  • More to the point what does it mean for oggy as Reid has been performing a one man show in many games

I can see Oxford being thought best to go out on loan for a bit more development - he was supposed to get that from the last loan but was mostly crocked. So we might imagine he hasn't made the progress that was anticipated.

But do we really need another CB? We already have Ginge as our 'veteran'.
  • A cynic (not me) would say that is what we do - have one or two positions in which we have a critical need and yet go and buy a player in another position on account of the fact that it's a "good deal" ;hmm
  • Reid, Collins, Ogbonna and Oxford.

Plus Kouyate and Nordtveit that can play there.

Fonte's a decent player, but wholly unnecessary, IMO.
  • What is it with Slav that he is obsessed with padding out the squad? that's what got us in trouble in the summer. He does know we were knocked out of Europa I hope and he is not recruiting for the later stages of a competition he is no longer in.

Oxford needs some pitch time, if he is that much of a prospect then surely we can get into a place where we are safe from relegation and let him play. If he was able to start against Arsenal in Slavs first match then surely he can play a part this season.

  • According to Ex on the radio show, Hogan, Fonte and Snodgrass are the most likely signings this month, but Slav is delaying the decision as to whether to sign Hogan ;hmm
  • Jose Fonte

    ;whistle
  • Maybe it'll come back and slap me in the face but I don't think for a second we're going to sign Fonte. Considering the amounts touted when Man Utd, Everton and Liverpool were linked with him, why would he suddenly want to come to us? I don't think we'll pay a 10M+ fee for a guy of his age and level. I also don't think he'd choose to come to us either.
  • Tbf, Fonte and Reid would be an amazing pairing.
  • Trying to take another point of view could we be thinking about him as he is a top premier league defender coupled with the fact that our defence has been pretty rubbish for nearly all this season, which cannot just be blamed on the lack of a right back?
  • IMO he's had his head turned (initially from Man Utd interest) a while ago and is looking for a last good move. I don't think we've got the appeal for it to be us so he'll get the move to somewhere like Man Utd or Everton (or apologize and stay with Southampton).
  • Collins to Palace? Or Ogbonna to leave?

Agree with Lukerz, Reid + Fonte would be immense
  • Can't see Ogbonna going anywhere. Fonte is hardly better than Payet. As soon as he thought Man U or Liverpool were interested he pretty much downed tools.
  • Luke ;ok

Fonte & Reid would guarantee clean sheets for the next 18 months imo
  • Alderz, that makes them sound like laundrymen. ;biggrin

    Randolph ;hmm
  • Apparently Swansea and evert N are after an attacking midfielder from Young Boys called "Ravet"

Can you imagine if we ever signed someone with that name - would we be expecting a combination of Ravel and Payet with all the baggage that came with it??...
  • Linked with Gray again on talksport
  • I get the feeling that Slav is viewing Hogan as a last resort. Defoe was/is his No1 target and I think he’s still hoping something may happen there.

Risky game to play because if someone else snaps up Hogan and Defoe decides to stay…

So we can possibly tick that off as a correct ITK call from KUMB. ;wink

He ald says Hogan is on standby, because Slav wants Defoe, and we feel there maybe some movement on that as the window moves on.
  • 6th riches club in England....

We should jump up a bit next year with 20K extra people at the game.

I would say around 13th is possible a way to go before we over take Spurs.
  • 7th Vorse ;ok
  • C&H Says Fonte for 4m and Collins to Palace which would be decent business ;whistle
