The rumour mill has us looking at Josh Sargent of Norwich and Coventrys Haji Wright. The signing of a striker could decide if we get the goals to stay up or not but it's such a big moment for us and I wouldn't like to be the guy who makes the call.
We could stick with Wilson and Fulkrug as Willson is showing up for us whenever he gets the chance and Fulkrug has something there even is we haven't seen it yet. We could also look to buy one of the two championship strikers mentioned and hope they can make the transition fast or perhaps go down the loan route of a striker at a top club who may not be getting so many chances whom we could offer a decent loan fee for in the hope they can do a Lingard for us.
I think I would look for a loan if possible rather than hope a Championship player can make such a quick impact. Toney would be the dream signing, but probably just that.
An option to buy is a term that would not appear to carry much weight as everyone has an option to buy a player. Whilst the club could be held to a contract and prevented selling to someone else they would only need the player to state clearly he doesn't want the move and it means nothing. We need an obligation to buy ideally but I suspect we will do a straight loan to free up some wages to pay a loan signing of our own.

The option to buy is 100% in favour of the "buying" club, as the price is set; if the player has an amazing loan, which sees his true market value rise, then the buying club get him at the previously agreed, lower price. If the player has an average or poor loan, but the buying club are still interested, then they refuse to pay the option price but may make a lowball offer as happened with Vlasic for one.
There really is nothing in an option to buy for the loaning club imo.
I posted this on a different thread. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored his 6th goal in 5 games. I thought West Ham were considering him before the start of the season. What happened to make him go to Leeds?
The club would have been heavily criticised had Calvert -Lewin been a summer target. He is having a good patch and has had them before but before he went to Leeds his injury record was not great and he had been anything but prolific in front goal.
He had a great season in 20-21 with 21goals but following that his tally was 5, 2, 8 & 3.

They were equally criticised for Callum Wilson but we're alright with that one.
The board were happy to sign an injury prone out of form striker on a freebie and not the other. The only material difference I could see between them is that one was happy with a short term contract that was financially beneficial to the club, and the other signed a three year deal on a reported £100k a week.
I'm not saying that signing DCL would have been a good signing, or that financially they made the wrong choice, but the reality is that the finances drove the decision.

Er, location, money, family, preferred to play for Leeds over WHU . Who knows?🤷🏻♂️
David Ornstein is normally more reliable than Romano, IMO, because he is an actual journalist and verifies with sources rather than just post anything that comes across his desk. The fact Ornstein says that we're after Jorgen Strand Larsen says to me that we probably are after him. Whether that pans out or not I don't know.
Yeoldhammer, Who should we have bought instead as I didn't see from the outset it was going to a waste of money?
It was just the fact that he was the completely wrong profile for a striker; over 30, best years behind him, known injury issues. We already had Antonio and Ings ticking at least 2 of those boxes each (Antonio all 3), so it was such a nonsensical decision to bring in Fullkrug.

Why do I have this nasty feeling that we're going to end up doing a "Haller" with Fullkrug?
Or if we do get a replacement they're going to be a "Hugill"?
