What I like about him is he thanks Sam for leaving him a good squad and solid foundation, no digs at the fitness levels or previous regime, and he already knows the key weaknesses are keeping the ball and creating clear chances (through ball possession). The other thing is that we have lacked a genuine No.10 since Sam arrived, a link between midfield and attack, and Bilic identified this straight away and brought somebody in.
“The other night, for example, we played in Norwich and it was not an ideal time for us. But it was the anniversary, 80 years since whatever, blah blah blah. We felt obligated to go there and show respect with our best possible squad. And that is what we did.”
Any respect we showed he just threw away.
He sounds like a politician in the rest of the article.
Simonc- im reading nothing into his comments about racism/swastika, he's a proud Croatian saying his countrymen aren't racist and that their FA is trying to address the issue to tackle the minority. No different to Muslims stating that ISIS isn't really representitive of Islam (which it isn't but this isn't the place for that kind of discussion).
The 'blah, blah, blah' comment is abit ;doh but I'm not going to lose any sleep from it...when you hear some of the stuff that comes out Mourinho's mouth etc. tis a nothing comment really IMO
Rakis - Slaven appears to be a VERY intelligent man so you would assume he thinks before speaking & his comments do have meaning. That being said he dished the reasoning for the Norwich game so it follows that he may have been told to play a stronger team & was not happy. The other comments in reference to the swastika "to me" sounded like he was trying to align himself for a job in the Croatian Football Association or Government. No one knows why they did what they did so why try to explain it? It simply doesn't make sense, but then again I am making assumptions & you know what that makes me ;hmm
Sorry AKA - That was not my point or my intention, but why say they are not rasist and make excuses for the CFF's lack of crowd control, if he wasn't trying to stay in their good graces? Maybe i am reading too much into this as he must have friends in the CFF from being the National coach, but to me it seems like he is playing politics and looking beyond WHUFC - I have been wrong before though ;biggrin
Seems to me that he was making the point that he feels that generally Croatians as a society aren't racist, and that he believes that the motivation for painting the swastika wasn't racist.
He could be wrong on both counts, but I don't see why he shouldn't express an opinion if asked.
LOL - Sorry didn't realize i couldn't express an opinion. As an FYI I don't have a "problem" with Slaven as our manager, I am excited with the way the team is developing. Just didn't think much of his comments, I think i'm allowed that no?

If you enlarge the photo and rotate it, you can just see that the book in the bottom right corner is 'A History of Arsenal'.
Kept him as captain, given him games, not made him feel like he's a dead man walking and shown him the respect he's deserved.
May sound obvious, but when you look at how Rodgers dealt with Carroll etc.
Looks lke we're on the right path
Was also impressed with how he's handled Nolan.
Could've come in and thrown him aside. My ship now, pal.
Kept him involved.
He's said today that he's happy with the squad, which I think is a feel good ploy to motivate his players.
Stop trawling for agrees and cheers
;lol
Damn.
Ok, Nolan OUT!
(sits back and waits)
? ;hmm
Gave him a chance I guess

Really not sure what to think about the guy right now?

Since he says in the article that he doesn't believe the people were doing it out of racist motives.
How is that sympathetic to racists?
I was challenging the idea, rather than you. ;hug

Firstly he may not of known (or couldn't think of at the time) the actual full reason why Norwich wanted to play us.
He clearly says they decided to carry on with the fixture and play what appeared to be our strongest possible line ups out of respect for them!!
Simonc - it seems you appear to have a problem with whoever our Manager is, for one reason or another?
Were you like this with Grant, Zola, Curbs or Pards
Just curious.
;ok
Where did you get the idea you couldn't express an opinion?
You can, and did.
Someone else happened to question it; we get a lot of that on here...
And can you explain that 'applause' smiley, cos I can't see it as anything other than 'sarky', and therefore feel it is totally unwarranted.
