So here it is, our first three points of 2025 & an unlikely place to get them.

Wan-Bissaka - Todibo - Kilman - Emerson
Souček (c) - Paquetá
Kudus - Soler - Summerville
Füllkrug

2-3 (Kudus x2, Soućek)

This line up might just work, Bowen will be lucky to win back his place on the team.

  • It was the midfield & defence that played at Newcastle & that was the most solid we’ve looked & probably our best result of the season.
  • Some big absences for City

Obviously Rodri is top of the list, missing since September

John Stones and Ruben Dias have been in and out all season while Oscar Bobb has been missing since the Community Shield

Ederson and Matheus Nunes are said to be close to return after both missed the last three matches
  • Can't understand how Paqueta gets in the line-up. He's been rubbish the last few games.
  • I think Álvarez has been more rubbish, holding midfielder last match, yet we let in five. He’s running in quick sand most of the time.
  • I would have Guillherme on the pitch, possibly in place of Fullkrug and pit Kudus up top.
  • Not sure its the game for Guillherme to start against City be lucky to touch the ball
  • The problem is a large number of our players are playing worse than last season, but the players we've brought in aren't good enough to displace them from the team. Alvarez, Paqueta, Kudus, pre-crash Antonio, even Bowen (goal contributions-wise) are way worse than last season, yet have still been getting regular starts.

Any news on Ings - I would not mind seeing him and Fullkrug up top - I understand he may not make this game but is he on his way back any time soon

Must admit I didn't realise he was out, he was on the bench against Liverpool.

    Wan-Bissaka -Souček (c) - Kilman - Emerson
    Kudus -Fulkrug

Would like our defence to have more protection, how about trying Kilman there, he seems like he could be capable of playing this role and could do a similar job to what Rice did before Moyes swapped him with Soucek in the more advanced role…
IMO AWB & Emerson offer more going forward than possibly defending, with Coufal / Cresswell behind them they’d also offer more protection… Would it be enough going forward, well, perhaps not, but we’ve hardly been successful or prolific so far this season with J Lo’s many other teams selections / formations…..

Score prediction: sadly Man City with a comfortable home win 4-0 v WHIFC ( of course, I hope I’m very wrong)…..

    Starting with 7 defenders 😂🤣😂.

Attacking intent, usually it's 9 against City =)
  • I know he's not exactly popular at the moment but think Summerville needs to start

City just can't handle anyone running direct at their backline with pace, that's what Summerville has in abundance, especially with Antonio and Bowen missing

Like I said AWB & Emerson are not great defensive wise, they’re better going forward in a higher midfield role IMO.
Think Kilman could do a better job at present than what Alvarez or Rodriguez have done….
So those 3 are converted to midfield, so not really how you say it Buffy, more a change in their positions which all PL players should be straight forward for them to adjust to… IMO

Soler / Alvarez/ Rodrigues /Paqueta have offered very little in the centre ( Soler ) possibly a bit more, but no great shakes….

But that’s my team I’d like to see, I really think AWB & Emerson are better higher up the pitch going forward than actually defending, but would also offer the back LB/ RB much more defensively, Kudus is a liability offering help defending and so is Bowen in all honesty ( I know he’s out, of course), so why not try something new…And Kilman could be great sitting in front of 2 CB’s, but perhaps you have a better idea.. so over to you….

  • A simple 4-4-2 formation , with 3 current players playing a more advanced role, no brain science needed 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  • Pep says a similar squad as Leicester with Ederson expected to be available

    Line up vs Leicester

    Ortega
    Lewis Akamji Ake Gvardiol
    Kovacic
    Foden De Bruyne Silva Savinho
    Haaland

    Carson (GK), Walker, Gündoğan, Doku, Grealish, James McAtee (22yo AM/CM/RW), Divin Mubama (20yo CF), Jamhal Simpson-Pusey (19yo CB/LB), Nico O'Reilly (19yo CM/AM)
  • I know he's not exactly popular at the moment but think Summerville needs to start

City just can't handle anyone running direct at their backline with pace, that's what Summerville has in abundance, especially with Antonio and Bowen missing

He does seem to bother more tracking back when needed compared to Kudus and Bowen for some of the time, but Summerville is lightweight for me, he get's knocked off the ball easily and his end product isn't there quite yet, but we are short on numbers, so let's see what J Lo does....
  • MAN City were not that great against Leicester and can be pushed, if our defence/midfield do their job. Leicester had 54% possession and 11 shots at goal.

    Areola
    Wan-Bissaka - Todibo - Kilman - Emerson
    Souček (c) - Soler
    Guillherme - Kudus - Summerville
    Füllkrug
  • Unless City have some devilish plan to look less wordly to maybe lessen the penalties, (why else would a team of stars suddenly and unexplainably lose game after game) they would look at this game as a practice match to get back to winning ways. We might see a thumping today. If not, my original theory stands.....I'll get my coat

At least he runs, more than Paqueta manages.

Alvarez does run, but very slowly.
  • I think we'll see:

    Areola
    AWB Mavropanos Kilman Emerson
    Soucek Alvarez Soler
    Kudus Füllkrug Paqueta
  • Areola, Coufal, Todibo, Kilman, Wan-Bissaka, Álvarez, Souček ©, Paquetá, Kudus, Summerville, Füllkrug
Subs: Foderingham (GK), Cresswell, Scarles, Mavropanos, Soler, Rodríguez, Irving, Luis Guilherme, Ings
  • Todibo over Mavropanos, finally!
  • No Emerson
  • Other than getting Soler (both Álvarez & Paquetá fortunate to play) in there I think that’s as strong as we can be without the players we’re missing.
  • Still a pretty good City team ,Can't see us getting anything
  • Same starting XI for City as Leicester and same bench apart from Matheus Nunes in for Divin Mubama
  • Sofa time =)
