    Soucek and Lingard joined in January, having been training regularly and playing (at least a bit!) for the whole season. Alvarez won't have trained in 3 weeks or whatever it is.

    Lingard mostly just ran in a straight line really fast (and very effectively) so not sure that needs much acclimatisation.

    (More seriously) He slotted into a team that was already doing well and added to counter-attacking football we were already playing Alvarez comes into a more complex role at a more difficult time, so it's hard to compare to Lingard.

    Despite beating Lorient 2-0 Bournemouth's pre-season does not seem to have ended well

    CF Dominic Solanke, AM Ryan Christie and RB Adam Smith didn't play because they had picked up injuries. Iraola seems confident that Solanke and Christie should be okay for Saturday but wasn't so hopeful about Smith

    Smith will be a big miss as the only other first team RB is our old mate Ryan Fredericks who has been out since March. LW/RW Jaidon Antony played RB against Lorient

    I've been thinking about this. Reckon Moyes will go 3/5 at the back. I think he'll play it ultra safe for the first few games until the squad is complete.

    Downes for Paqueta but otherwise I agree that could be the side. Possibly Benrahma in for Fornals playing between Soucek/Downes & the front two.

    I don’t expect him to based on rumours but will be pleasantly surprised if he does. Moyes may tell us more in his conference which I assume is tomorrow, although is usually today when we play on a Saturday.

    I would expect Antonio to start, even though he’s only had one 45 mins & two weeks training. He is just too big & impactful for us with only Ings & Mubama as alternatives (for now).

    The only reason he should not play is if a deal has been agreed. We need a good start this season and this is a winnable match and we must go for all three points.

    Bournemouth signed Max Aarons yesterday evening after he walked out during a medical at Leeds

    Looks like they sorted out the RB issue!

    JWP not signed in time, wonder what midfield we’ll have out tomorrow? Downes is currently in talks with Saints. Doubts over Paqueta.

    I suppose, ideally, Soucek/Alvarez/Paqueta. Worst case, Downes/Soucek/Fornals?
