IMO we have had enough of these “one last big pay day” players, who never seem to work for West Ham, even for the short term. Plus, their large wages can cause discontent in the dressing room. Would rather we didn’t sign anyone like King because they’re just not worth it!
Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth on The Transfer Show:
“West Ham reportedly made a £22million bid for Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri. He looks the real deal, like he would be a great signing for West Ham, he played regularly for them in the Champions League and Europa League, which they won last season.
“The Hammers’ offer is not going to be enough, Sevilla signed him for £18m and would want somewhere near double what they paid for him. From the player’s point of view, and this is no disrespect to West Ham, moving there would be a bit of a step down from playing in the Champions League.
“To walk away from that and move to West Ham it would have to be a huge transfer fee and huge increase to his wages. But from a West Ham perspective, it is encouraging they are going after that kind of player.”
Ah, I see Sullivan's got into Jim White again. Find another in-form striker playing in Europe and tell everyone we're after him. Couple more days of the window wasted as low-ball bids are 'submitted' before the 'deal' inevitably breaks down.
This is the we bid but didn't reach it and now we decrease in price. Expect a bid for second choice to then fall through followed by picking someone up on a 6 month loan.
According to C&H Haller was on £110k pw, he scored 10 goals in 48 Premier League appearances, about a goal every 320 minutes.
King scored 48 goals in 161 Premier League appearances, about a goal every 250 minutes
He might be worth the extra £10k pw.
As for "one last big pay day" he turned 29 last Friday so its not as if he's on a zimmer frame!
He's a year and a half older than Kane, six months older than Salah. He's roughly the same age as Ings and Mane but younger than Jiminez, Lacazette, Aubameyang and obviously Vardy.
Traore's got another two years on his contract, Wolves have been trying to get him to sign for longer but no joy. Allegedly Liverpool, City and Barcelona are interested
It’s going to be a desperate loan attempt in the last hour of deadline day isn’t it? All the signs are already there.
And when it’s a from a foreign club (as it will need to be as we already have two domestic loans) the player will no doubt then have to sit in quarantine for two weeks upon arrival - so another few games will pass by.
“Despite being disappointed to miss out on a selection of key targets - not for the want of trying - the board are delighted to welcome one new addition to the squad this month, ready to contribute to a successful end to the Premier League season; Felipe Anderson.”

Nice idea but...
Interested recently? A year ago maybe but they might not be so convinced right now

I think the club can make Dawson permanent for £2-3m and then bring in another domestic loan. Someone like Origi, for example. That seems most likely; certainly more likely than dropping £25m+ on someone like Daka or this new fella.
Daft thing is, if Sky are to be believed, we have £22m to spend. Reimes are said to want £15m for Dia, but apparently we've only gone in at less than £9m for him. He fits the mould of what Moyes is on record as wanting, he's affordable (if you take the En-Nesyri bid at face value), we're one Antonio sprint away from having no fit senior strikers at the club, but Sullivan is too busy low-balling clubs for players we're never going to sign to get that deal done.
It's ten days since Haller left, and we're still groping in the dark for a replacement.
I know haller wasn’t everybody’s cup of tea but it’s been mentioned on here we were still picking up points, so to sell without a replacement is imo beyond bad management whoever’s fault the blame lies with

So as soon as we sign a new striker you expect him to immediately replace Antonio?
I’ve still not seen much that’s more plausible than an origi/Diop loan swap (if we buy Dawson). I mean in Dawson we have currently the best c/b in the league 😂

Liverpool Echo yesterday, Daily Express linked him with City and Leeds on Saturday (Leeds probably can't afford him), Barcelona was mentioned last month.
Don't get me wrong, we do need another striker or two as I don't really rate Antonio as a striker. Good coming in off the wing but his lack of technique lets him down as an out and out striker.

It’s not simply about there being £22m to spend
There will likely be £22m for Moyes to spend, but the caveat is it has to be on a player whose value is £50m. And only £4m will be up front obvs.
Likewise he will be given £10m for a player but only if their value is £20m
Etc etc.
That way, cunningly sully will end up signing no-one and will be blameless in the process.
