Yeah, saw this too. I mean, we have Dawgbonna starting, with Cresswell at LCB if we go for a three and Balbuena and, presumably, Alves, as back-ups. Enough to arguably let Diop go, but with Covid so rife at the moment, I'd be reluctant to let anyone else go, and I include the kids in that.
So the fact we have got rid of Haller now renders what he said in December pretty redundant ImO
Yep, no additions to the squad we had in December could arguably have been justified as Haller had scored a few and Snodgrass was likely to be a CM alternative (although personally I would still liked to have seen some reinforcements brought in).
Fast forward three weeks and we're two first team squad players down and still stating we may not be active, which, in my opinion at least, is just not acceptable.
Reality is, our subs bench consists of Noble, Lanzini, Yarmolenko and a bunch of defenders and keepers. That's not enough to last us until the summer if we have any ambition of maintaining current standards.

And this is key. We brought in Bowen and Soucek last January because relegation was a real threat. This time round we're in no danger of going down which is why we're seeing very little business, IMO.
Remember when Sullivan went on TalkSport earlier in the season complaining that the League Cup game in Everton cost him £50k? Imagine what a run in the Europa League would cost him. I'm afraid to say that such is my opinion of Sullivan, I genuinely believe he would rather not qualify for Europe, hence his reluctance to spend out on the players this month that could potentially get us there.
I shall only believe we’ve got a new striker when I see some bloke that I’ve never heard of holding up a West Ham shirt with a name I can’t pronounce on it.Because that’ll mean that the others that I’ve never heard of were “ bullets dodged “ and “ we got our man in the end”.
OCS, it's as if Mr Sullivan just likes the kudos of being a Premier League club owner but has no aspirations of them achieving anything as that would cost money?

Kudos, and the profit the sale of the club will eventually bring. All he's ever been interested in, IMO.
Moyes clearly has a long-term plan but I don't think qualifying for Europe in his first full season in charge was part of the plan. If we did qualify we wouldn't have the squad depth to cope with the extra matches and our Premier League results might suffer as a consequence.
After the debacle of last season I'm happy enough to be comfortably mid table, getting good results and with a promising future.
ASLEF, you are probably right but when we do qualify as part of DM's master plan if GSB are still in charge will we have the strength in depth to properly compete? Although been here before, got the t shirt etc, don't want this to be another false dawn so would take the opportunity to have a go in the new European competition if we were to qualify as it would be progress.

But then that's kind of the point. If we do qualify for the Europa League, then get the depth squad needed to compete.
Because there's no guarantee that we'll be in this position in future seasons. Other teams may strengthen more than us and we may not have this kind of opportunity for years. Just seems daft to me to not try to be successful when the opportunity presents itself, and with Chelsea and Wolves struggling more than most expected, and with us performing better than everyone expected, we have a genuine chance to get European football. Which is kind of the whole point, isn't it?
Whoever it is who makes the decisions on players who leave I’ve not heard moyes come out and say I tried to stop haller diangana snodgrass or Anderson on loan or is he just keeping stum
My view is that he wouldn’t be the one doing the deals, and if he openly slags off his bosses decision making then he’d probably find himself out the door too. I think the blame for the thin squad lays with the owners, not the manager.

So to me that makes his whole statement not particularly relevant to the position we are now in

However you cannot IMO call it such if you move on your club record signing (at a 50% loss)!!

His legacy will only ever be selling the ground in exchange for empty promises

You only need to look at what they gave Birmingham to know that.
