  • I'd be very upset if we sold Diang (this is apparently how he likes to go by now) unless we could get a ridiculous fee

I actually disagree Barney, think hes been pretty good during preseason. Hes a confident dribble, always looking to beat his man which he often does. He has a small frame, but actually think he's been using his body well to show some strength

I would be very surprised if we sold him for £12mil

He more than held his own in the Championship, which is a more physical league.

The only bit of your post I don't agree with is the selling price. I have such a low opinion of the owners that I wouldn't be at all surprised if we sold at such a low figure.
  • So reports going around saying the deal is £12mil upfront with easy add ons making it up to £18mil

For me thas still too low, if he had a full season without injury he'd have done just as good as Eze, plus we are a Prem club so have a strong position so anything less than £20mil would be a poor deal

Let's see how it develops, uit this would be a big blow even if it does mean we could move for Benrahma
  • I’m very worried about the amount of reports on this. It. Makes. No. Sense.

I don’t think there is any signing that could justify it.
  • I'd rather we sold Anderson for £10 than let Grady go. Absolute madness if true and no one can say these three at the top are not destroying our club.

I don't want Diangana sold, let me get that on record. However, I would just about accept it if we saw a LB and CB brought in. They're our obvious areas of weakness, whereas we have a number of LW options (mostly because we seemingly can't shift them).

Of course, what I'd rather see us do is keep our quality players AND bring in the defensive reinforcements. Unfortunately I don't trust our board to do that.
  • Our policy is to develop the players we have already, or to buy young, upcoming players. Diang fits the bill - I hate to think what an (unknown) replacement would cost. Players have said they are excited to play alongside him.
    Makes zero sense!

I agree we need an LB. I think a CB is a priority but not absolute necessity.

I don’t think either is worth selling a player who could have long term benefits, for so little. There may be others in his position but they haven’t performed and it completely flies against what Moyes has said he wants. I’d have very significant doubts about Moyes’ success if this is what we’re doing.
  • Only believe it when SSN report it

    WEST BROM AGREE DIANGANA FEE

West Brom have agreed a fee with West Ham to sign forward Grady Diangana.

Diangana spent last season on loan at the Hawthorns as West Brom were promoted to the Premier League. The fee could be worth £18m and would break West Brom’s transfer record.

Diangana has been given permission to speak to West Brom, who want to sort out the deal before the new season starts as there are other Premier League clubs who remain interested.
  • Dont think i have been so depressed before the season even starts ,And its nothing to do with covid
  • I actually think the owners are using Covid. They know there will be no fans in the grounds so no protests etc...

Eze scored 14 goals for QPR last season, so I can't see how other clubs will value Diangana more than QPR did for Eze.
  • I'm so upset by this news

If we were getting £20/25million I could accept the logic, hes a player that's unproven in the league and it's a good fee

But for £12m rising to 18mil that's disgraceful, shocking from the club

I want a LB but you dont go short changing one of the most exciting players at the club

Remember an injury curtailed his season

    From whoscored:
    Eze: 14 goals + 8 assists in 46 apperances (4060 mins)
1 goal construction every 185 minutes

    Diang: 8 goals + 6 assists in 23(7) appearances, (1870 minutes)
1 goal contribution every 134 minutes

Obviously WBA were better than QPR but QPR are a championship team and more pressure to sell

£20mil should've been the minimum plus a bit extra to selling to someone else in the same league
  • I am so upset by this ,That i will protest by NOT flying over from canada To attend the Newcastle game =)
  • I haven't been on for a while but after seeing what I saw on SSN, I feel really fed up with football again. Why is it we seem to have a buy high sell low philosophy? If we was a Spurs player he'd be going for double what he's going for now.
  • Wonder what Haller is thinking

Hopefully it's just journalistic lazy gossip..... edit: Sky seem pretty confident that this is on, Shocking lack of forward planning by West Ham if it goes ahead ( unless they have a master plan )
  • Yoyo, there are a handful of journalists who are reporting it quite confidently, rather than as a rumour/potential move, which is what's worrying me. Also that ExWhu is quiet when he's been very active refuting things about bids for players we could all more easily accept moving.
  • Some suggesting we will make a Benrahma

But that doesnt excuse us accepting such a low ball offer. Every player has a price, but no way in hell is that price £12mil even if there are add ons

I've been quite vocal that I'm optimistic for the season, but I always said that I was counting Diangana and Johnson as new exciting signings

This has seriously put a dampener on things

Also heard some rumours that Holland is interesting Fulham and Palace. Now Holland has achieved very little in his career compared to Diangana, but you know we'd probably be lucky to get £1mil for him which is a waste
  • That would be such a gamble and I doubt it's true anyway. Benrahma will be expensive and Diangana knows the club, he's played reasonably well for us when he broke through and now he's a much better player.
  • Pathetic if £12m fee is true
  • The last two players we sold where I thought we got a reasonable fee were Bellamy and Ashley Fletcher

We are terrible at transfers, we really are. We are basically the anti-Leicester. GSB are genuinely useless.

Just read that both Diangana and Benrahma are Will Salthouse players.

So who benefits from both deals, if they do happen? Will Salthouse.

Which agent regularly holidays with the Sullivan boys?
  • O.C.S ..... That's shocking
  • As always we really do need wait for confirmation but if true the owners will be rightly condemned for this. I think, despite hopes, most would have settled for keeping what we had in this window, to be selling what would have served as an exciting new signing is pretty unforgivable. Were he a West Brom player and we were about to sign him I think we would be quite excited at the prospect, he is our player, so just keep him. He is probably not even on that much a wage comparatively.

Regard his small frame I feel some years back he would likely have struggled make it a as a pro due to it, but the game is so protective now that is not to relevant. He would drive many defenders to distraction this season he is so quick on his feet.
  • Claret, I think that's exactly why it's ruined my day. I was settled on keeping what we had and seeing how that could work. Now suddenly we're worse off and for an amount I can't see fixing anything.

apart from their mates commission and some money to pay off Haller's bill
  • Yea I had no problem with how the window was going

We would like to make moves I'm sure, but unless we couldve got shot of the higher paid and underperforming players that wasnt realistically going to happen

But selling a young talented player like diangana who is the exact type of player we are apparently looking at targeting for a fee which is reported to be about half of what I think we should be looking at getting in for him....pathetic
