  • I don't get how we are somehow supposed to control selling players as fast as possible. We can't sell anybody unless the right offer comes in.

What are we supposed to do? Go out advertising them and show how desperate we are to sell? That will lead to rubbish, low-ball offers.

Not quite like that, but you can definitely proactively look to sell players. You basically let their agent know they are not wanted & they’ll go off to several clubs & let them know he is available.

Of course we have to then wait for offers & whether those offers are decent is another matter. Let’s be honest, Anderson’s last decent game was when he won us the game at Southampton back at Xmas time in 2018. We’re not going to be in a position to demand massive fees for these players.

But I would expect interest in Anderson/Lanzini from a top half club in Spain or Italy.
  • Quite a few rumours that Chelsea have already agreed a deal with Benrahma as a replacement for Willian

But also rumours that Willian is close to agreeing a new deal with Chelsea
  • Lukerz,

Agents are trying to get clubs to offer on their players all the time, because a transfer fee and a pay rise is bonus time.

Telling an agent their player can leave is the same as advertising it to the clubs. They’ll tell other clubs they can get a cheap deal and we’ll end up with bad prices.
  • Sky Sports News has been told Southampton have also been alerted to the potential availability of West Ham right-back Ryan Fredericks.
  • Also seen Twitter rumours of some interest in Kyle Walker-Peters. Not much mileage in that I suspect as Spurs will want a lot and tend not to deal with us.

Spurs want Hojbjerg and he wants to join them. Rumours Walker-Peters could be included in the deal?
  • Would be logical Fortune. Like I say, I think we'll be priced out of any move for W-P. Spurs would want £20m or so for him I reckon and I can't see us paying that for a full back.
  • Ex suggesting that Palace have agreed a deal with Eze and it's up to us to match it if we want him, but not sure how when we have to sell to buy...
  • Why would anybody want to go there?
  • Frederick's rumours hold with the rumours to Montiel

Johnson has broken into the first team, dont need 3 right backs

Frederick's is solid, and has great pace, but think if we can get a decent fee enough to get in Montiel who we obviously fancy as we apparently bid for him in Jan then I wouldn't mind

Will be disappointed to miss out on Eze...especially to Palace
  • Think Ham needs to have a word with Eze

Maybe he doesn't. But it may force other, more preferred, clubs to act.
  • Do we definitely want him?

I don’t see ‘needing to sell’ as being an issue. I am sure the owners will pay up the required fee & just recoup the money later in the window.

I imagine as long as the net spend is very low, possibly break even (or even a profit), they will do what is necessary. They will know there is no time frame on when we could sell players & that we cannot wait weeks to act as all our targets will be gone.

I think Fredericks has had enough time to convince people that he's PL quality, and personally I think he's failed. Yes, he's quick and can make decent recoveries at the back, but going forward he doesn't carry enough of a threat for me. Weak crosser, and seems to prefer to move the ball back inside rather than take on his man.

Definitely a 'sell' for me if we can get a decent replacement.
  • Willian to Arsenal latest report.

May mean Chelsea need a creative player...

Ziyech already done and they’ve got Pulisic and Callum Hudson Odoi as well. Isn’t Havertz supposed to be close as well, as a creative midfielder?

If the rumours are true that would be Benrahma

greenstreethammers.com claim that Monaco's new manager Niko Kovac would like to sign Haller who he used to manage at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Not being funny, but surely if the club wants Eze, you use Hugill in that deal? He got 15 goals for them last season, that’s a pretty decent return. £12m plus Hugill is a decent offer. Championship sides regularly spend £10m on players these days.
  • Seems like a ready-made deal Lukerz. Hugill certainly seemed to enjoy his time there.

Reported figure that Palace have agreed with QPR is £12m. If that's true, even Hugill + £6m might be enough. Surely our owners could stump-up £6m to get an offer accepted.
  • OCS 👍

Losing Eze is surely better that losing Eze & Hugill.
  • 12m is a steal. If we are not in on that i would be disappointed. Hugill as a makeweight just makes sense all around.
  • I admit to never having seen him play, I am guessing that all of you who seem to think we should be signing him think he's worth the punt...

    Not really.

I have never seen him, so would not be bothered either way. He is well rated by others but I don’t know what that is based on.

If we don’t sign him, I can’t claim to be gutted.
  • No not seen him play

But hes earned really good reviews in the championship

That plus he fits our new transfer strategy and that he has a year left on his contract hence the smaller fee

    No brainer really
  • I think two of Our most successful signings from the championship Antonio and Cresswell both have played a lot games and contributed over a number of years have been great value for money we paid for them. Bowen looks like being another astute transfer so I am all for taking a few more players from the championship. They already are used to the physicality and pace of the English game which sometimes catches foreign imports out .
  • My Dad is a QPR fan. Rates him very highly.
  • I admit to never having seen him play, I am guessing that all of you who seem to think we should be signing him think he's worth the punt...

I've watched some YouTube stuff, when he gets the ball he likes to run at defenders and he's rather good at it, likes to try shots outside the box but also has an eye for a pass. Not seen him crossing much.
  • Ham,what does your dad think of Hugill ,Seems to have got a raw deal from us ,Can score goals in the championship ,If he was not our player would we be looking at him
  • Yeah my dad quite likes him. We both feel he fits in well there but they are a mid table championship club. I feel like it would have been interesting to see how he'd got on for us.
  • Thanks Ham .seeing as he was a moyes signing will be interesting to see what happens to him
