But why sign a 6 in 22 when we have a striker who just banged in 15 in the championship ? not to mention a guy who got relegated twice with Sunderland down to League 1. Surely we can do better.... even for a backup striker.

Because he’s maybe better than the one we have who just did it?
A number of Premier League clubs are interested in QPR forward Eberechi Eze.
Crystal Palace and West Ham have held informal conversations about the player and it is thought West Ham would offer Jordan Hugill as part of the deal, who was on loan at QPR last season.
Your second XI would have a problem competing in the Championship let alone the Prem. Individually they're ok but as a team?
I agree Herb, but how many PL teams have a second XI that is as good as their first? Even Man City struggle in some positions to have a back-up as good as their starter.
We struggle regularly in the FA cup , that’s tells me everything
West Ham have joined Newcastle in considering bids for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.
Tottenham are also interested in signing the England striker.
It’s expected Bournemouth will be looking to sell for a fee in excess of £20m for the England striker.
West Ham are known to be seeking to add pace to their front line and Wilson would fit the bill, although manager David Moyes knows he will have to move a number of players on before he can recruit all his summer targets.
I am a big fan of David Brooks (though, he is another left footed player who comes off the right flank), and of Morgan Gibbs-White. I think both would be fantastic signings for us, and add a lot of depth and quality to the squad.
I really think Gibbs-White is going to be an England regular if he gets given some regular gametime for his club. Every time I see him play he looks quality.
Football Insider has a theory centred around Will Salthouse aka Unique Sports Management who they allege has replaced Barry Silkman as Sullivan's preferred agent. USM already represent Antonio, Creswell, Fredericks and Randolph and Football Insider claims that Salthouse is mates with Sullivan's sons.
Other players with USM include Callum Wilson, Said Benrahma and David Brooks
Ex says we have spoken to Eze’s representatives & told them of our intentions & that we want him. But Ex says that we are hoping to persuade him & his people to wait a bit longer. 🤔
I am a bit cautious of this ‘youth transfer policy’.
What we don’t want is a load of cheap, young, lower league players just to get the average age down & because they are affordable, who may or may not adjust to PL football.
Villa did it a few years ago under Lambert & whilst most of their signings went on to become average PL squad players eventually (Lowton, Westwood, Benteke), they signed so many at once that they ended up getting relegated within two years.
Moyes did similarly at Sunderland. He had limited funds & brought in a young CB from Chelsea, a couple of young Man Utd players (McNair, Love, Januzaj). They ended up bottom as most of them went into the team & weren’t good enough.
Need to be careful we don’t go too far & the signings all need to be spot on. I do agree with a drive for younger players but the pressure will be on for them all to settle quickly.

I agree, but also we already have a lot of quality in the squad. IMO Sunderland and Villa did it because their squads were decimated. Ours isn't. Replacing a few players with maybe the next Antonio or Bowen is great, but a full squad rebuild from the championship is not ideal
What happened to Gibbs-White this season, was he injured? He looked like one of the best English CM talents when he was first coming through.
According to Transfermarkt, he wasn't injured. They signed Dendoncker and he was incredibly consistent. Wolves playing with a back 5 and rotating between a 5-2-3 and a 5-3-2 means that there aren't a lot of opportunities in midfield. Neves, Moutinho and Dendoncker have all just been ahead of him in the pecking list.
Albian Ajeti’s move to Celtic has stalled after the player asked for more time to weigh up his options.
The West Ham forward was due to undergo a medical with the Scottish champions yesterday, but he stayed in Switzerland to allow for more time to consider the switch.
The clubs agreed a loan deal, with an option to buy for around £5m.
A number of Premier League clubs, including West Brom, are also interested in the Swiss international - and the player is now mulling over what’s best for his career at this stage.
