Was a pointless buy like so many others in that window.
Might just be me, but amazing how efficiently and swiftly you conduct business with people in charge of transfers who seem to know what they are doing.
I think Rice is being prepped to be our designated DM, so it depends what formation Pellegrini is looking to play.
I can see Rice and Wilshere sitting in front of the back four, the former breaking up attacks and the latter playing the quarterback role, either pinging the ball out to Arnie/Yarmo or carrying the ball forward.
Obiang and Noble would be their respective back-ups, which means Kouyate is pretty redundant, IMO.
Lee Clayton just reported that we have agreed a fee of £37m for Anderson, with bonuses potentially pushing it past £40m. Work permit has now been applied for.
It's great news about our recent signings but how comes, all of a sudden we are finding this money. ;hmm
Maybe because they have more trust in their new manager to be able to spend it wisely. Plus maybe the calibre of player we are getting is keen to work with a manager of the calibre we now have compared with previous managers we have had - ie better players now want to join us?
Percy: (comes back) Well, couldn't you just dip into the family fortune?
Edmund: There isn't one. My father blew it all on wine, women and amateur dramatics. At the end, he was eking out of a living doing humourous impressions of Anne of Cleeves.
Percy: (sympathetic) Oh, Edmund, I am sorry -- I had no idea. But do not despair, for I have some small savings carefully harvested from my weekly allowance, set aside against my frail old age. By lucky haps, it is just over a thousand, methinks, and has for years has been hidden beyond the wit of any thief, in an old sock...
Edmund and Percy: ...under the squeaky floorboard...
Baldrick, Edmund and Percy: ...behind the kitchen dresser.
Percy: (smiles, slightly warily) You've seen it!
Edmund: Seen it, pinched it, spent it. And same goes for the two farthings Baldrick thinks he's got hidden inside that mouldy potato.
Comments
I read Leeds were interested; hopefully someone in the Champo will give him a game
Keepers: Adrian, Fabianski
Centre defenders: Ogbonna, Reid, Diop, Rice, Oxford
Right-backs: Zabaleta, Fredericks, Byram
Left-backs: Cresswell, Masuaku
Central midfielders: Noble, Wilshere, Obiang, Kouyate, Fernandes
Wingers: Antonio, Yarmolenko, Snodgrass
Strikers: Arnautovic, Hernandez, Carroll, Hugill
With Lanzini off the list due to his serious injury. Ones in bold are probably expected not to be here come Liverpool.
So a cb, dm, winger or striker maybe still needed.
;hmm
But I think we are now moving into luxury territory, 4 good signings...
Kouyate and Obiang are very different players, depends what pellegrino wants from a CM, but i wpuldnt be upset if we can get £10m+ for either of them
If it were me, i'd keep Obiang over Kouyate
Interesting though that given Obiang & Kouyate are apparently 'available', as it stands that makes Noble & Wilshere our first choice pairing. ;hmm

------------Adrian/Fabianksi--------------
Fredericks---Diop------Ogbonna----Masuaku
-----------------Rice--------------------
----Noble/Obiang-------Wilshere----------
Anderson----------------------Yarmolenko
---------------Arnautovic-----------------
(Although I would get Reid in there when fully fit over Diop or Ogbonna)
This is looking very good
