All 20 Premier League clubs have been asked for a £250,000 contribution so that the league's outgoing executive chairman Richard Scudamore can be given a £5m farewell gift.
This is a disgrace and each club should refuse. At least Fifa attempted to hide it's bungs!
The guy was employed to do his job and was paid well, where does the idea of asking the clubs for a gesture of appreciation come from? highly misjudged on many counts.
If some clubs were to agree and others refuse could in the future they claim favouritism?
There is the stat about how the TV rights have increased whilst he was doing his job. Does this mean if a manager asks for a payment from a players agent, a contribution, for the value he has added to him during his coaching, that this is now ok? it's a payment of appreciation.
Why does he need 5m? they used to get a gold watch!
Imagine what that 250k would add to community facilities in the locality of each club, yet our own football association thinks he needs an extra 5m as a show of appreciation.
Surely the FA must then launch an enquiry if a chairman of one of the clubs under the jurisdiction of the FA is attempting to make a payment to an official of the ruling body.
Surely personal payments from clubs cannot be accepted from members of the ruling body and all payments regarding their work for the organisation should be from their employer. Very misguided from the Chelsea chairman in my view.
That was when you had to earn a cap and start a game to get one. A lot of his caps were also one cap per tournament not even per game. Now you can get a cap for coming on in the 95th minute and not even touching the ball.
Thorn, although you only received one cap for a tournament it represented the number of appearances in that tournament with each appearance shown on the cap. Therefore although only one physical cap it represented the number of games played.
Snodgrass & Hernandez score in a 2-1 win at Brentford in a behind-closed-doors game. Carroll played the second 45 mins.
Strong side out; Antonio at RB, Holland played the first half, Noble got 90 mins, with Cresswell, Zabaleta, Oxford & Anderson coming on as subs second half. Masuaku, Perez, Coventry, Rice, Ogbonna all played too.
Also gave the manager a chance to see Oxford and Holland in a senior competitive match. Will be interesting to see if either impressed enough to get some PL game time before the end of the season.
Due to the stupid offside law, where the linesman only flags as the offside player is about to touch the ball, a Huddersfield player went straight through the back of Fredericks with six or seven minutes left in the game. He hobbled around for a minute or two before leaving the field by which time we had made our three substitutions. ;angry

;hmm He was struggling towards the end at Huddersfield, but we'd made all 3 subs so he had to carry on. Am I remembering that right?
It's a banger...
