  • Madness.
  • ;nonono

If anyone wants me I’ll be in the under the stairs cupboard.
  • Columbian manager looks like a primark version of Pellegrino.
  • Had to be Henderson ;doh
  • Well who saw that coming...
  • Talk about doing it the hard way.
  • ;wahoo ;wahoo ;wahoo ;wahoo
  • In the first half of extra time we were terrible, at least we came out in the second half and showed some willing.

    My goosebumps have got goosebumps

  • I had a bad feeling about Hendersons body language. However, I believed they'd miss too.

OMG thats what it feels like to win pens at a world cup!!! All household in 'loopy' mode!!! ;wahoo ;wahoo ;wahoo

    #fingertips on Diers pen!!
  • I love seeing fat Colombian drug dealing cheating peasants crying with no shirts on. ;biggrin

Did I say that out loud?
  • Sweden next?
  • Lukerz said:

Maguire is the weak link in that team. Has been all tournament.

I rarely disagree with anyone on this site, as I believe it’s all about opinions, but Lukerz, I must take a completely opposing view from you. I think He has been rather good. More than that, I think he is probably the best England shirt out there.
  • Did that actually happen ..
We won a penalty shoot out....
    ;wahoo ;wahoo ;wahoo
Average performance , but hey, we won .... ;scarveng
  • I have a feeling we could smash Sweden. They are not a bad squad, but our strengths kind of fit their weaknesses. Hope all are fit and not too bruised in the morning.
  • happy happy joy joy
  • Amazing..... First time since 1996.....

    Colombia are a bunch off....
  • Sent my daughter to bed at the end of normal time as it's a school night. Woke her up at the end of penalties.
    She actually cried with happiness.
  • I’ve been very impressed with Gareth Southgate. I saw him as the safe choice after Allardyce; a “yes” man. He is so much more than that. He is single minded and is his own man with his own ideas. Long may it continue.
  • Well I didn’t say that coming ..............
    ..............
    ..............

Not that we’d win a penalty shoot out but that both teams would still have 11 players on the field at the end!
  • Fully deserved that win.

    COME N ENGLAND
  • That was worth staying awake for a 4am kickoff! This team have gone way past my expectations. I was happy with them before, I'm dreaming now... ;star
  • I like Southgate, but yet to see a galvanizing performance from England. Good defence, but way too slow to build attacks still. I would like to see him be more ruthless with passenger players like Alli also. I think his substitutions almost lost us that game, but credit were it’s due, could be a great run. Would like to see Sterling stay on to take advantage of any lapses, and counter attack in the last 10 mins. Looking forward to that Sweden game!
  • certainly never thought I would ever say this about the old codgers who run the FA but the appointment of Southgate looks like it may be entering the realms of “inspired”

I can live with the thought that it was fortuitous- I am just pleased that he is bloke in charge, as Suz said, long may it continue
  • I had this strange dream last night where the English Team managed to actually win a Penalty shootout.

    We're out, aren't we?
  • I may be wrong but I cant remember a Columbia shot on target til injury time. I thought we coped well under the fouling, dirty tricks pressure and being massively outnumbered fan wise so it felt like a hostile away game.

A young team picked themselves up (any team wouldve been knocked sideways by that equalizer) and still came back toward the end of extra time.

I thought Rashford was the right sub for Sterling. He's also quick, direct and can take a man on/beat him (where Sterling seems to struggle to actually get him and the ball past a defender) Not knocking Sterling. Vardy was also a good sub. Hes obviously also quick, a poacher and we needed fresh legs. We mau have had a rest but the humidity was high at the stadium and I'd say Columbia would be more used to that.

I thought Dier was also a good tactical sub when he came on but he took a good time to tune into the game. Scoring the pen made up for that though...

We've nothing to fear on Saturday or beyond. I'm not saying ti will be easy but n quarter final should be as any team will be trying their hardest.

I stood by the desire to see us lose against Belgium and now we've got past Columbia we can hope and dream of even bigger things. I can still remember the feel good factor of my youth when England were doing well. So at this moment I am slightly envious being so far from home...
  • True enough IanBishop, but you have to stop the rot before you can move forward. This team at this tournament have done that already.

Stopped being humiliated. Stop being an embarrassment. Really play for the shirt, for your team mates and for your manager. This team at this tournament have done that.

Restored some faith that they actually have a clue.

  • cricket is played in Iceland??!!
