I'd rather just enjoy who we have signed, and not stress about every position where we don't have two potential first-teamers.
I think we have good cover and a couple of spaces for young players to force their way in if need be.
We've learned from last season and haven't gone scattergun. We've made great signings at targeted positions.
There's a poll on the Sky Sports website asking fans to rank summer signings: Chicarito is number one at the moment, ahead of Lukaku, Morata and Man City's seven full-backs.
Huge well done to the club from me on not just who we've signed but how we've gone about out business.
As you said we've gone down the wingers route with mixed if not poor success with the likes of downing, Feghouli, Jarvis, Snodgrass etc who are all good crossers with little success
Ironically the mentioned guys....well mainly just Downing and Feghouli.....enjoyed their best success behind the strikers in more central roles
I think Carroll is not around enough for it to be a huge priority and I also think Carroll performs best when te crosses are more erratic then constant balls into the box (he ends up just giving away fouls)....I think Cresswell/Masuaka will provide the crosses from the left overlapping Arnie and Antonio and Zab will share the crosses from the right so he won't be isolated
I agree though we probably need a #10 in the Lanzini ilk as he links the entire team and we look lost without him
@Yeoldhammer - Rumours currently that we ARE trying to offload Sakho. His contract ends next summer and as far as I am aware we haven't offered him a new one. I read a couple of days ago in the dirt rags that we've approached some Turkish teams and offered him, but thus far it seems, no bites.
Regarding more players leaving than joining, we specifically bought extra 'squad' players last season to bulk up our experienced first teamers as we were expecting a full season in the europa.
Obviously we were knocked out before the group stages less than 2 weeks ater the prem even started. Thereby we simply need a smaller squad this season then we planned for last (a successfull europa drive could have added an extra 19 games to our season).
This is why we need a smaller amount of experienced players this year, we simply are expecting less games. For example we brought in Nordtveit, giving us 4 experienced CM, when we only play 2 per game, because we thought we'd also have lots of extra europa games. We subsequently couldn't provide enough matches to keep them all happy (Nordtveit only played 15 games last season, and a fair few of those were in his less favoured RB or CB or as a sub) hence why he wanted out.
@Yeoldhammer - I disagree here. Yes, players leave if they don't get enough games, but only when a club wants them in. With Sakho, he's barely played for a season (and only half the season before that), has had documented personal issues off the pitch, he apparently failed a medical at West Brom last summer, and his contract ends next year when a club could get him on a free. Who wants to bother buying him now? It's easy to say 'well someone will give him a chance', but quite simply, up to now no-one has. I really feel he'll be here just about doing enough to receive his wages until he leaves on a free next summer. A shame as I used to enjoy watching him play, but I just want him out now.

Barn door wasn't big enough
A bit harsh, out of 17 games he was with them he only started three, he's never played a full 90 minutes, was subbed on in two more and was left on the bench five times. He was left out of the squad for five games up until Saturday when he got his third start.
"It's the management's decision to dismiss him, we will have a new player in the second round of the season," Muchtar said. "He plays very badly compared to the other (foreign players) who have joined Persib. He had the worst performance," Muchtar added

He wasn't given much of a chance
