  • Must have been man flu if he was in hospital ;wahoo
  • It must have been because if it had been proper flu, he wouldn't have left his bed for 5 days. I had it 2 years ago and I couldn't lift my head off the pillow.
  • But Preston, you're talking about Super Slav here.

    5 days, pah.
  • Just a quick question, do the whole squad and management get given the flu jab annually??

No. They get it in the arm, like everyone else.

I thought I only had the sniffles and decided to go out on the lash. The next 5 days I couldn't move or leave my bed. The next month I had to go to hospital with kidney stones, which were so bad I had to have a stent inserted and 2 days later I had a stroke.

Now I am not saying that having the flu leads to having a stroke but, if you contract man flu, that is exactly the same as death. IMO of course.
  • I sympathise Preston, I had real flu a few years ago and never ever want it again. I was bed ridden for nearly a week and thought I'd never walk again.
Most people who say they've had flu just have a cold.
I've had the jab every year since then.
  • If you can walk about, then it is a head cold. Proper flu and you are bedridden.

Bilic, after losing 0-4 to Man City: "They were so dangerous, especially when we had the ball." It's a classic.
  • They weren't that dangerous then as we hardly had the ball.
  • Still trust.....

    COYI
  • Love Slaven , but he needs to put his foot down in the summer and get 3/4 quality players in this team to go with the quality we already have , top striker top RB
NUMBER 10 and possibly a new LB to give Cresswell something to worry about .

Slaven please get a decent number 2 who can add some tactical brains to this team .
  • Would you trust his judgment though? Look how his long term targets such as tore and Zaza worked out..
  • Agree I think Sullivan will never trust him with signings again imo .
but I stick with my point on a decent number 2 ;ok
  • So Barracks, why don't you just come out and say sack him as you have no faith in him whatsoever.
  • wish list would be

    Trippier
    Sigurdsson
    Jackson Martinez

    ;biggrin
  • sos
    egg
    beans

    ;wahoo

MrsGrey, you forgot the full stops in the first line. ;biggrin
  • Don't forget Bilic also identified Payet and Lanzini, so he's not quite as bad as I think is being made out

  • Does anyone else have a funny feeling that the Davids are setting up Slav to fail using crafty PR tricks such as giving the exact impression OCS refers to above?

Every Manager wants to improve his team if there's enough money to do so, The quote attributed to Slav about being happy with the team sounds like he just doesnt want yet another DS stupid bargan basement punt with money yet again and he's been trapped into this quote as a way of saying no to DS's New Year annual cowboy shopping.

I have never liked the way they go about their relationships through public quotes about their employees which owes more to the Trump style than to giving their manager, players and other employess genuine confidence. Bilic knows more about what the team can do than the massed family ranks of the Sullivans and Golds put together so I do hope this isnt the beginning of a Daves campaign on the sly to get him to resign by end season.

    ;hmm
  • No. Or at least I don't.
  • I don't think that Swiss ;ok
But did anyone else see Roberto Mancini in the crowd last night.

But I still want Slav as our manager , even if it means the odd hammering, there is very few others I'd want instead of him.

I have no evidence to suggest what Slav said wasn't anything but the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

    My opinion is "yeah right".

    "Happy with the squad"

This is the man who wanted Bacca/Lacazette/Batshuayi, ended up with Zaza, and now has none of them.

His favourite striker (Mr Sakho), who he publicly stated was a top striker on several occasions, was left seeking a move after the board publicly admitted our strike force was pants.

This is the man who engineered a record-breaking final season at the Boleyn, finishing two wins off the Champions League, and has now watched us get pummelled 4-1, 5-1, 5-0 and 4-0 in the past two months, because the squad has no depth.

This man said, a year ago, that Sam Byram has not been bought for now, but for the future. We only signed him to avoid missing out on him. He's now our only specialist RB.

This man also said, six months ago, that Fletcher was being signed for the long term, not now. He's now our first point of call when chasing the game.

This man also said, only last week, that Payet is our best player, we will not sell our best player and we will wait for him to change his attitude. That player was sold.

We chased Defoe and Hogan all window. He wanted one of them. You don't make bids for a player over the course of a month to then decide on deadline day eve that he isn't for you. You say that because the board won't pay the asking price. He publicly admitted on at least two occasions his admiration for both Defoe and Hogan.

    "Happy with the squad" ;lol

His hands are tied, he's being forced to get on with what he has and he's doing the honourable thing, like the honourable man he is, and publicly stating he's content with that.

G&S need to sort out the last three windows failings in the summer. No more excuses please. Emenike, Zaza, Tore, Calleri, Masuaku, Arbeloa, Feghouli, Nordtveit, Fernandes...

They have been gifted a stadium at a bargain basement price, sold the old place for millions, record season ticket sales, the worlds 'in-form' player bought for a pittance, European football. It was all there for another cracking season. All it needed, was some proper investment. Not the investment they've provided to date. £30m odd and a pat on the back. Proper investment. The sort that saw Everton splash £30m on Bolasie and Palace £32m on Benteke. The onus was on them. They sold the dream. Not us. Not Slav. Not the players. Them. What we got was a summer search for 'value for money', in a business where players earn £100,000 in seven days! Value for money? ;doh

I do not want Slaven being the scapegoat and getting the boot in the summer for an under par season. You only have to look at Jack and David's twitter feeds. They're already lining Slav up against a wall. "The manager said, the manager said, the manager said..."

All IMO of course. I expect it to be challenged. ;biggrin
  • It's a tricky one Luke

Bacca and bats didn't want to come to us - whether some more £££ would have tempted either, who knows?

The problem with the bacca one is they left it late by which time we were out of Europe and he probably looked at who else we bought and thought "you gotta be kidding"

To have had a chance they needed to go big and bold right at the start of the window - allegedly they offered eur40m for Lacazette - no-one really knows if he would have come but with that offer Lyon were not going to sell. They needed to offer a good deal more early doors to potentially turn lyon's heads and give them money and time early in the window to organise a replacment. They didn't and the rest is history. One early top notch signing and one or two others might have followed.
  • Lukerz

For the sake of brevity, put me down as disagreeing with everything that you said in that post.
