Markovic has been very poor for Lisbon, by all accounts. I also think I read that he was poor on loan last season but I am prepared to be corrected on that one. He also has really not done anything for Liverpool in his time before going on loan.
Snodgrass has scored goals and created chances for two extremely subpar sides in this division.
I see your point, Alderz ;ok But Markovic has more potential. He's only 22 and Liverpool did pay 20m for him.
Snodgrass is 29 and hasn't really done much. Whenever I've seen Hull he hasn't stood out and made me think 'how is he playing for Hull?'. Does he really improve our side? Wouldn't get in my XI ;hmm
Been Hulls best player for the bits of them I've watched. A natural winger, when I hear we're about to lose one... Also I like the fact he's left footed so gives a different option which originally Tore was meant to present. Got a cracking free kick in him too.
I do agree that ideally we'd be aiming for younger though...
Fair point Twist. My current favoured 11 is the same as yours in the MCity match thread. Arguably comes in for Feg, although I think he's been playing well and deserves his place. However, if Feg or Ant play poorly / get injured who is our wing attack replacement? Let the three of them battle it out for the two slots (if 4;2;3;1 is what we go with). Also, I want Hogan (or A.N. Other striker) yet I don't think they'll be in front of Carroll in the starting 11.
The way I see it is you need two players for every position. So with Payet going we need another left sided player to provide competition for, one assumes, Ayew.
GK - Randy/Adrian RB - Byram/Arbeloa (still think we need a RB) LB - CresswellArthur CB - Reid/Collins CB - Oggy/Fonte CM - Noble/Fernandes CM - Obiang/Kouyate RW - Feghouli/Antonio LW - Ayew/Snodgrass AM - Lanzini/ ;hmm CF - Carroll/Hogan
I would say we need a striker and a winger. Whether we need Hogan and Snodgrass is a different question, IMO. Snodgrass would be a decent signing but I don't really want him.
Next game isn't till the 1st Feb anyway so club have time. Though obviously closer it gets to the end of the month the harder it gets.
Still think its a bad idea relying on Arbeloa who does not look that great and possible bust up with Slaven / not even fancied by Slaven for the RB spot and Byram ? would like to see an Actual RB come in.....
We could do with another midfielder if we can shift Payet.
Certainly need a striker and if we accept Zaza / Calleri are gone and Sakho is as good as out for the rest of the season with the fitness training he will need to do after he comes back. I do not think just Hogan will cut it I think we need another. Hogan + Fletcher + Carroll (+1 more)
I think that one of our biggest strengths when we are on form is that we break with speed. Snodgrass is a classy player (imo) but I don't feel that he suits our style particularly.
The converse of that is that one of our biggest weaknesses when we play poorly is that Carroll (or any other striker) looks isolated. Losing pace from the side wouldn't help that, IMO.
Personally, I would rather wait until the summer and see who is surplus to requirements at their side.
Alderz - I actually agree about the pace issue (although I would quite like Snod so a bit of a quandary for me I need to think about), however for devils advocate, Payet wasn't/isn't particularly fast yet we played well (LAST YEAR) when he was in the team?
I think it is essential to get at least 1striker in quickly because you can't rely on A C to last the season out, even though he is playing excellent at the moment.

We are still in the hunt for Snodgrass and have delayed Callers move by a few days.
Maybe we're waiting on the outcome of the medical, given his issues with his knee ;hmm

A C to last the season out, even though he is playing excellent at the moment.
Assuming he comes back from Acon fit (without Maleria) then he gives us another option.
