    So what do people think are realistic targets for the new man?

    Three year contract, realistically I think G&S see him as a bridge between someone like BFS and a Klopp/Ancelotti/Benitez who we could attract once in the OS. Based on the reasons BFS left then I would be happy with three years of:

    Top 10 finish
    "Attractive Football"
    Bringing through the youth
    At least one cup run a reason in League/FA/Europa

    Brilliant news. He will add some steel and organisation to us, as well as introduce more of a pressing, high-tempo approach. Not sure where the likes of Carrol and Nolan will fit in - what a shame! Can he now persuade Demba Ba to follow him.

    Main target for me is attractive football, like first half of last season but throughout the year.

    Would be fine with similar league position if we can get to knockouts of the Europa.

    The thing is, if it all goes wrong and we struggle with the workload of Europe, he's the sort of manager you'd want in a relegation scrap. Certainly over a Zola or Grant.

    My realistic aims would be.

    Solid finish in the league (anything around 14th or higher)

    As long as

    1) There is clear evidence of a better style of football

    And

    2) We progress to the group stage of the Europa League

    Cups are a bonus, but would be nice to take one seriously (again Europa dependent).

    I think this guy will look to build a strong relationship between the team and supporters.

    Certainly cannot see any other managers picking fights or having a war of words with him.
    I also can't see the players not doing as he says.

    He looks like a real tough cookie and he is just what we need on the sideline during games.

    I can imagine also any player slacking at all will get a little bit of a telling off. I think he has the mentality that we need as a club to fight in and win games.
