my view is that Sam would be getting a lot more credit if he was still in charge,
Well, that would be a first then.
You still seem determined to keep up a 'them and us' split.
I don't get it.
Why does everything have to be about the last manager?
Why not deal with Bilic on his own terms, without making pointless comparisons?
Not at all.
In fact, I think there's barely been any 'them and us' since he left. Fans who wanted him gone have hardly been on here going "I told you so". It's been quite respectful.
Just making an observation. I think last season's first half saw far more positivity than this season.
Just think it's interesting comparing this season with last.
I don't just mean fans and fans on here. I think the media have barely acknowledged us this season. When you compare the air time Spurs, Palace, Watford and Stoke have received.
I think the only thing was there were a lot of people who felt we were doomed to relegation because we let Sam go and brought in a PL inexperienced manager. What I would say, is that I haven't actually seen many of them post positively so far this season, so I doubt they now 'love' Bilic.
I checked out the Bournemouth defeat thread from earlier this season, and some of the comments on there are incredible (as in, we're down etc).
I think some were concerned over changing to an inexperienced PL manager. Most possibly concerned "would it be an improvement".
Name and shame Luke.....name and shame, I mean who says the R word after a few games??

How is it a pointless comparison to compare our current manager with the previous one?
You realise by constantly aggressively suppressing this comparison you are forcing it to seep out in comments on all threads as backhanded comments. Those would be less likely to happen if people were to encourage people to discuss it on an appropriate topic, such as here.
I don't care personally. I tolerated Sam, he did a good job and I personally don't want to talk about him, I want to talk about Bilic in his own right. But you can't question someone that wants to compare our current manager with our most recent manager on a discussion board. I'm sorry Grey, I know you're the boss man, but this is all getting ridiculous.
If you want to keep the discussion moving forwards and not backwards, can members please never mention West Ham in the 80's or Bobby Moore and the world cup ever again please? See how ridiculous a request that would be?

But it isn't making a comparison of the manager with the previous one, it is making an assumption of how users of the forum would react depending on the manager, that just carries on the feeling of "them" and "us" which made this board quite an unpleasant place sometimes last season. Lots of digs and jibes back and forth between users.
To me there is a huge difference in talking about how Sam set up his teams and the differences to how Bilic sets up his teams to talking about how I believe certain users would have responded to the situation depending on the manager.
So imo, Grey is correct, it is a pointless comparison to attempt to discuss what people on this board would or wouldn't have been saying because it has no relevance.
My point was that the first half of last season saw this forum almost in party mode week on week. This season, it's been much calmer (which could be down to a host of things).
There was a lot of " ;hmm don't want Bilic, rather keep Sam", in the summer (perfectly legitimate view) but what annoyed me were the sly digs about him running off to Everton and how people only wanted him as he was 'one of us'. Now that Bilic has maybe exceeded expectations they had, there's been little recognition of it.
Maybe I'm just a little bitter from the stick Bilic got in the European adventure and in the first three PL games.
I will stick to strictly Sam/Bilic comparisons, but even then I'm always told to move on.
There were no sly digs - there was simply a statement of how people felt about it at the time - lots were very angry, some not that bothered. As I said before, I get that you weren't there and don't know what it was like, but I do wish you would stop dismissing what other people felt simply because you don't think you would have felt the same.
If you want to compare Sam and Bilic you are free to; just use the dedicated thread.
It feels to me like you are trying to find a way to say
'Yah boo sucks! Told you so!' to those who didn't share your initial Bilic enthusiasm, in which case, why not just come out with it, rather than go round the houses?
No. Completely wrong. For some reason you're looking for something malicious when there isn't anything.
What if we lose the next 10 games? I'd look an idiot.
What if we go down next season? I'd look an even bigger idiot.
I was just comparing the atmosphere on the board, and speculated what it may have been like if we were doing this well under Sam, based on my experience on this forum last season. I then tied that in to Bilic not getting much recognition in general (media).
You're right Grey my view is that Sam would be getting a lot more credit if he was still in charge, is speculative. It's also opinion and perspective, two key ingredients of a discussion forum.
Mooj, on a discussion forum there will be a 'them and us' divide on all topics. I know full well that I agree with you all on some topics and disagree on others. I can come close to hating a user for their views and then on another topic they will say something that resonates with me and I couldn't agree more. This is all fundamental to a discussion. For the record, I agree with Luke's speculative statement, I think Sam would have got more credit, it's an opinion and it should matter.
My aggressively suppress comment was probably not fair though, I apologise for that. However, I probably could argue that this has happened on other threads, not necessarily by you. I went to find proof of an example of someone, not you, posting aggressively around this topic and that post has been altered. So I will assume that was addressed offline. I'm not going to continue looking for proof as I frankly don't have time to scour the boards so I will apologise for that one and move on.
Luke....there were a few comments about Bilics history with us, probably fair I supppse I mean he had a bit of form. He's also not stupid, he knew he had to get onside with the fans from day 1, he was well aware of his history with us and what his predecessor had done with his "comments".
But let's be honest the negative Bilic comments were so few and far between, in comparison to the unnamed one, where it was continuous for four years.
Anyway I'm just happy it worked out and I'll carry on backing every manager that comes to us, until they give me a solid reason not to.

Just my view though.
Let's just try to keep discussions pointing forwards not back, eh?

But with those four smaller teams it more of a story when they do well....
Nothing to see here ;whome

I rather think you missed the point of my comment.
The comparison I was referring to was:
my view is that Sam would be getting a lot more credit if he was still in charge,
which, to me, is pointless as it is a speculation that adds nothing to the debate, whilst inviting the resurrection of old, old, arguments.
I disagree that I am
aggressively suppressing this comparison
There's a whole thread, here: http://www.whu606.com/discussion/8433/
where people can make whatever comparisons they want to, which can be happily ignored by those who aren't interested.
Furthermore, my comment was as one user to another, not in my role as site admin.
I didn't delete anything, or moderate anything, and the comment I personally objected to stayed in place, so in what way would that be 'suppression'?

I could be wrong, which you suggest, fair enough.

;ok
Anyway...
Eski said recently could we finish top four. I said no, but aim for fifth.
But...
When you look at our next group of games until March:
Newcastle (a)
City (h)
Villa (h)
Saints (a)
Norwich (a)
Sunderland (h)
;hmm
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
I'd like Malmo and Dortmund.
