Ok I’ll say it, we should never have let Moyes go.
  • I have no doubt things would be better if Moyes had stayed. But I also struggle to accept the idea that things would have been particularly good
  • I think it’s more accurate IMHO to say the board should have used a different approach when appointing the subsequent managers, free & available doesn’t always mean they are the best option.
  • Poor, very poor.
  • For me the moment that is responsible for where we are was when someone ( we suspect Sullivan) said ' you know I like this Lopetgui fella'.

We may not have been enamoured with Potter but he and now Nuno are trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear with the players Lopetgui wasted our money on, namely Kilman, Fulfruk, Roderigeuz and Todibo. I accept Tobido the Nuno is getting much more from Tobido now but those three were central to our new look starting 11.

Knowing who our owner appoints (out of work) plus our position, I’d go for Carrick. He managed Man Utd as an interim briefly for 3/4 games, think he was unbeaten, & managed Boro - a reasonably sized club in the Championship. He seems an ideal fit to manage us until the summer & then manage us when we are in the league below. Plus, he is a former player.

I don’t think enough is being made of the fact Nuno does not have his coaching team. One of them went to Wolves & is being credited with their recent improvement in performances. He only has one member that he worked with at Wolves (Rui Barbosa). He usually works with Antonio Dias (fitness coach at Wolves & Spurs), Ian Cathro (assistant coach with Nuno at Rio Ave, Valencia, Wolves & Spurs) & Rui Pedro Silva (worked with Nuno at Wolves & Forest, assistant coach & now back at Wolves under Rob Edwards).

I don’t know, realistically, how much chance Nuno had here without his support team whom he trusts & works with. No doubt a lot of them contributed to his success at previous clubs. It seems that some of them have moved on to their own career priorities & are employed by other clubs, but no longer work directly under Nuno.
  • The irony is that Nuno replaced Potter, but has a worse points per game. Potter replaced Lop, but had a worst points per game. Lop replaced Moyes, but had a worst points per game.

It’s dreadful. Every manager has made us worse, which is probably more reflective of the squad decline.
  • I've said before, with cheapskate owners, we have gone for cheap or out of work managers, and are paying the price. Yes, with the last two managers we have bought in less than brilliant players. Sadly, it might only be Middle East or American owners, with deep pockets that could go for a big name manager, that could take us forward
  • It has nothing to do with how rich the owners are its profit and loss rules that dictate how much you spend etc.
it’s the weird spending we’ve done that’s caused the damage and it’s easy for people to say kilman is our worst CB ever but how many said that when he signed.
  • Well, he couldn't be our worst CB ever before he signed and you couldn't say he was until he showed that he is our worst CB ever.

He didn't want to be here because he didn't feel wanted
  • That's down to the board.
  • No, that was down to the fans.

Steinberg reports players don’t support Nuno, many don’t understand what he wants, haven’t been spoken to by him for weeks & his communication about what he wants is inconsistent.

I’m sure he will get Tuesday but I cannot see how he survives if we lose to Forest.

There's not a single reason the board wouldn't have wanted to keep Moyes. Their priority is staying in the PL and Moyes did that comfortably most seasons, and has us in Europe three seasons in a row.

The board could have said whatever they wanted, but a lot of the fanbase made clear that Moyes wasn't wanted anymore.

If any of this is true, I blame the players 100%. 4 decent managers in a row tells me where the problem really lies
  • Carlton Cole?

Hang on, you blame the players for his poor communication and inconsistent requests?

Nuno Espírito Santo is in danger of losing the support of West Ham’s squad because of concerns over his man-management and tactics.

Well, his communication was fine last season when Forest were challenging for the Champions League. A similar article came out about the players not understanding Lopetegui, too.

I think there's a good chance the players are a bunch of whiners who don't really feel like putting the effort in, personally.

How can you be ‘in danger’ of losing support? The players won’t be like ‘I’m 80% there, I’ll give it another week’. He either has it or he doesn’t & given he kicked out JWP without giving him a chance, then played Andy Irving & Souček as a pairing, no striker & full-backs on their opposite sides (in his first weeks in the role) I’m not surprised.

So, you don't think Steinberg is right?

About this, or about any of the things he says?
  • No idea 😂
  • He is quite close to Sullivan but I am not sure how you can ‘nearly’ lose support from your staff.

Didn't they withdraw the contract offer?

I don't know, I wasn't there. Why would the board want rid of Moyes?

The players haven't looked unhappy and fight and team spirit were pretty good until yesterday, I really feel it is just a question of quality. Too many of our players in important positions are Championship quality and they will land us in the Championship. It's not even their fault as players like Mavro are giving their all. This is my view on our side from yesterday.

    Areola - Lower Prem/ champ
    Scarles - League one/champ
    Walker-Peters - lower Prem/ Champ
Kilman - lower Champ/ league one
    Mavro - lower Champ
    Potts - Lower Prem
    Fernandes - Prem
    Magassa - Lower Prem- Champ
    Bowen - Top 6 Prem
    Summerville - Prem
    Wilson - Lower prem
  • For comparison, this was our Euro final team from that season.

Areola - Lower prem/Champ (He was 2nd choice keeper then)
    Coufal - Prem
    Zouma -Prem
Aguerd - Lower prem / Champ
    Emerson -prem
    Soucek -Prem
    Paqueta -Prem
    Rice - World class
    Bowen - Top 6 prem
    Antonio -Prem
Benrhama - Prem - upper Champ
