Does anybody else understand the omitting of JWP from the squad? Without even giving him any minutes?
Seems very odd & a weird way to treat a model pro? Especially when you start selecting Irving.
Seems to me to be a way you may impact the rest of the players by doing that.
Seems to be the thing managers do these days, freeze players out to the “bomb squad”. I’m quite happy to see JWP dropped because I think he was an issue but don’t see why he shouldn’t be an option from the bench.
I think managers get favourites and players they don't rate or don't get on with. Potter was happy to let Alveraz go out on loan, but Nuno want's him back apparently, whilst Potter sought to officially adopt JWP as his Son but Nuno doesn't even want the sight of him to fall upon his retinas. I seem to recall Big Sam had a tattoo across his back of Kevin Nolan, funny people these managers.
I just think first impressions are important for players when a new manager comes in. I can tell you bombing out JWP for no reason is almost discriminatory & then picking Irving in midfield & playing full-backs on the wrong side, is hardly going to transmit confidence & assurance to the squad. Then you add in sacked by Forest & 1 point from 12 so far…
He did so many good things, Nuno, in his first two games, two away games & a draw & a respectable loss. Magassa in midfield with Fernandes & Paquetá, a back four, Bowen & Summerville out wide, a striker up front. Mavropanos in defence. Why he completely changed it for the last two games I have no idea? I’m sure the players feel similar.
Personally I don't see the point; the problem isn't the manager, the problem is 16 years of mis-management of the club by Sullivan and Brady, it's as simple as that. The squad by the end of the Moyes era was too old and on the way down, but the lack of a clear path forward since that point (well, since before that point, as the squad shouldn't have been allowed to "age" as it did under Moyes) has brought us to where we are now, 3 managers in 18 months later and staring relegation squarely in the eye.
I don’t disagree but, given the board can’t just accept the inevitable & will need to try something between now & May, is he at risk of going. I can see it.
Lukerz, Who replaces him? All I can see happening is the Board's continuation of the "Einstein" theory, appointing an out of work manager who is so because they have failed in a previous job so is free to be employed.
'The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.'

Actually Einstein never said it. It was most likely Rita Mae Brown, who wrote it in her 1983 book Sudden Death, attributing it to a fictional character.
It's not Nuno's fault that this squad is not good enough. For the Premier League you need a squad of at least 16 PL standard players, we have maybe 8 or 9.
I also still can’t believe Nuno is working with one established coach he has worked with his career & that’s it. What other club appoints a manager & doesn’t let him bring in his team. It’s one of the most crucial resources. No wonder we don’t seem to be getting better.
Somebody on another forum said Nuno accepted it because the club said he could have a bigger Jan budget if he worked with coaches here.
They won't sack him. They've just bought 2 players that are his picks.
Any new manager would have to work with the squad that's not his choice. New signings would play knowing they weren't chosen by the manager.
A new manager not likely to get much more out of this mixture of kids, Champo level players, has-beens and a couple of PL players trying to elevate a mish mash to something more than the sum of its parts.
We've now had four managers in a row who by and large have all had more success in the Premier League than failures.
Moyes' teams usually finish in the top half.
Lopetegui was decent at Wolves, a train-wreck here.
Potter had several good seasons at Brighton, wasn't even that bad at Chelsea, and tanked with us.
Nuno did a great job at Wolves and Forest. The Spurs spell can be ignored because he was only there a few weeks.
It's not the managers, it's the players. There's no leadership, no fight, very little quality, and the squad is so beaten down and used to losing that confidence is at zero. The squad needs tearing down and starting again. Relegation might do us a favour.
Very good thorn. We appear to lack leaders on the pitch. Can you imagine Roy Keane letting a team play so pathetically as we did today. GP let some of our better players go as he didn't fancy them which he was entitled to do, NES doesn't want JWP in the side who is good on set pieces? Still can't understand his substitutions today or the lack of putting a CF on.
