Welcome Nuno Espirito Santo

Comments

  • Good luck Nuno, you'll need it with our clowns running the circus
  • Yep. Hope Nuno can turn things around
  • He's used to dodgy owners.
  • Well he’s our manager ( for a bit anyway, apparently) so he’s got my full support and I wish him all the best.⚒️
  • I do think Nuno must be very motivated as he will want to show Forest what they are missing, I imagine it would also have had an impact on the negotiations of his compromise agreement for leaving Forest. let's hope he can hit the ground running.

  • Not going to lie as I wanted Potter from the get go and would probably have given him until year end at least, however this is a results business and the board clearly decided that they had to act now so really I have to get behind them and Nuno.

    We can do this

  • Good luck to Nuno..
I was ok with Potter’s appointment, but he sadly failed to make a positive impact in general and failed to get the best out of the players….IMO….
He was given in today’s world enough time and probably enough money, somehow with this, he made the team worse this season than last…
His sacking was bound to happen, was just a matter of when with his record, but as always with West Ham somewhat strange timing & handling of it…nothing new there.
Anyhow, I’m sure everyone hopes Nuno can change our fortunes of late and make a positive impact on the team and club.

Nuno has used a back four ever since his last season at Wolves so hopefully he won't try to get us to play with a back three like Potter

Enough time? 19 games last season with a team that was struggling and six this season

Enough money? We didn't spend anything in January and we had to sell Kudus to raise funds. Diouf has been good, Fernandes looks promising, Hermansen not so good and its too early to say with Magassa. Walker-Peters and Wilson on frees are good signings

We've not had a great start to the season but we beat Forest and Palace's win over Liverpool makes our loss look a lot better than it did last week
  • The Potter Principle: sound good, look wise, be promoted beyond your capabilities. Let's hope Nino stays long enough to stabilise the club, before he starts arguing with the management.
  • Nuno's managerial career so far:
    2012–2014 Rio Ave
    2014–2015 Valencia
    2016–2017 Porto
    2017–2021 Wolverhampton Wanderers
    2021 Tottenham Hotspur
    2022–2023 Al-Ittihad
    2023–2025 Nottingham Forest
    2025– West Ham United
  • Will he have even met the team before he picks the matchday squad? Unless they have some kind of training/meet-n-greet session today (?unlikely)...

Aslef, you have your thoughts, they are very different to mine, that's okay....
I think he had enough time, last season was a give away, but the whole of pre-season and our start, for me we have declined, it was time for him to be gone IMO.

It's a results business, and Potter couldn't for the life of him get positive ones 9 his record speaks for himself and possibly a reason why Sullivan only wanted to give him a short term contract to start with ).... It's reality of where football is now, iMO..

We spent quite a chunk on a new keeper that I guess from what reading was his choice, he's so far been dropped after a few games, he also stated he didn't need a forward, and then he got two new midfield players in at a combined 60 odd million, that's a fair bit....That's apart from KWP who has impressed me when played...

From reading here and there, Kudus simply wanted out, he got his wish......Aguerd the same,

But hey, I respect your thoughts, I just don't agree with them, and comparing our results with other teams, IMO that also doesn't work.....It's our results that are important.

According to the clubs social media he took training yesterday
  • The Premier league is so intense that in reality most clubs would completely lose their position in football if getting relegated due to a squad that may have taken a good while to build up getting gutted out and a dramatic loss in revenue. Even if getting promoted again you face the uphill battle to re-establish a Premier league quality squad to survive the first two seasons. Due to this as much as I would have liked Potter to have been given longer I am not sure we could afford it as each performance was pretty much groundhog day and little change was being brought about by him. We could have drifted to Christmas and found ourselves in a very difficult position with Sunderland and Leeds already picking up points.

I do feel we have a better chance of staying up with Nuno but I am not sure he will be around for the long term, but at this point I just want to ensure we don't get relegated this season and with our realistic options he was probably the best choice for us as I saw our options as Nuno, Bilic or O'Neil.

The front three will fit the profile of what Nuno works with; he likes two wide, quick players & a hold-up man.

    Bowen - Füllkrug - Summerville

Will probably be what he goes with, but the reality is he is going to need to improve & get more out of the players, as it is the same squad that is getting comfortably beaten.

I am not sure he will be able to, no matter how good a coach he is. I just don’t think we are very good.
  • A brief introduction. He is a stylish man who conducts himself well and gives off calm and composed. I don't know why he has taken the job but let's hope he can make a difference.

“One of the first things is get the fans and the team closer together”…..good luck with that, has he been to the stadium?
  • Does anyone know what Nuno has against JWP, did he have a fling with Mrs Nuno or something?
  • Perhaps he spotted that he wasn't the player he once was.
