Fullkrug made 46 appearances last season, started 42 out of 49, was available throughout apart from the penultimate game when he was left out of the squad for a rest
Previous season he missed four games with a calf problem and one game with a bruised back
Season before that he missed one game, reason unknown
It’s not him, it’s us
Cornet has played up front, he’s doing nothing at Saints so let’s bring him back and see if Potter can get him playing again
Is that the side for Tuesday? Mavro concussed, Todibo injured, Füllkrug injured, Summerville injured, Bowen injured, Antonio injured. Let’s hope we can get a couple of bodies back even if it’s just Emerson & Areola.
Assuming we're missing Summerville as well as Füllkrug, as seems almost certain, then I'd play Kudus up front with Soler taking his place alongside Paqueta. 2 reasons for this, firstly, it has 4 CM (2 attacking, 2 defending) to make a box for a 3-box-3 formation, and secondly, Ings looked awful against Villa, and we can't start the game with him playing.

Thanks, so sadly it seems yet again the West Ham strikers curse has struck gold....

With closer examination (albeit from TransferMarkt stats), there was time missed for tendon irritation in 23/24, calf problems twice in 22/23, ankle problems and a calf injury (totalling over 90 days) in 20/21, and all that is since he missed almost the entire 19/20 season with a cruciate ligament tear and 5 months of the 18/19 season with cartilage damage.
So there's a history of calf, ankle and knee issues, and he's a big lad and these sort of issues only tend to get worse as you get older. I'm not denying he could be a good player on his day, but, given we already had 2 30+ year old CFs on our books, it was an extremely ill-advised bit of business if we weren't bringing in a younger CF as well.
Good info @buffybegood ...So perhaps another 'ill' fit, this must lie with Steiden I guess.
Definitely lies with Steidten, he tried to get Moyes to take Füllkrug the previous summer, and then we take him when he's a year older and for a lot more money. I know hindsight is marvellous, but, given the make-up of oor other CFs, it was always a very suspect bit of business, and it's all on Steidten.
It could end up improving us as we will almost certainly bring a striker in now, which may not have happened had Fulkrug not got injured. I don't think many were thinking Fulkrug would be the answer to our striker issue and so maybe whoever arrives could be!
