I am happy to give him time, we’ve had 8 fairly rough games. Our easiest game on paper was Ipswich which we won 4-1. All the other ‘easier’ games were away & the rest against the top 6.

His CV & experience is unquestioned. He is an elite level manager who has managed to have an impact in the PL before with Wolves (look at them now).

He hasn’t got it right yet but a lot of the players haven’t either. But it is a results business & a few more defeats are going to put his job at threat.

    So 11 games then =)

That would be after Everton on November 9th, I think he will get until Christmas at the very least. We have Utd, Forest and Everton in the next three matches and need 5-6 points in my view.
  • I miss Zouma
  • Bare minimum you gotta give him half a season, and then you only get rid of him if we are in a dire position, which for me is bottom 3 and with a gap of more than jsut 3 points (we are 15th btw as it kinda sounds ike a lot think we are already in the bottom 3)

    A season isn't played over 8 games
  • I think the fact people are even thinking about how long to give him is nuts. Unless we’re buried, I want him here for the full length of his contract. It takes time to bed in tonnes of players, a new management team, and a new way of playing.

The worst thing is Richarlison going down clutching his face.

Watching MotD Sarr shoved Kudus into Richarlson and Richarlson's got a fair old whack on the conk

Disgraceful behaviour from Kudus to get the red card but funny cos it's Richarlson

Also on MotD they highlighted how bringing Sarr on for Maddison was a game changer

As for Lopetegui I'd be stunned if the board sacked him after just 11 games

Real Madrid gave him 14 and we're no Real Madrid

He'll be here until the end of the season at the very least
  • Spurs, West Ham and Kudus charged by the FA:

Sounds like he's gonna get more than a 3 match ban.
  • I can't recall seeing any of that in Kudus last season and wonder if it's part of a bigger picture as he must know how refereeing works. He has not only put his hands in the first players face but a second one also. People speak of letting the team down and he absolutely has as we will miss him for three or more matches and are weaker without him in my view.

What I don't really get is he has not punched anyone but just pushed a flat hand deliberately in the face. If his defence would be that he lost control in the heat of the moment he would have punched them, as no one pushes a flat hand in someones face, so it indicates some level of awareness of the situation and self control, but not enough to know that there is no grey area regard face contact and to do it twice.

  • Thank goodness I sold him before his price dropped ;whistle

Maybe a bit of insider trading going on there Mrs Grey!
  • Just smart management.

Law 12 states "a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct"

It doesn't matter if he punched him or pushed him with the palm of his hand, every players knows its violent conduct. The only exemption is if "the force used was negligible" and they certainly can't argue that for Kudus.

Kudus is going to get a ban and we're going to find out if Summerville is good enough
  • Is somebody going to start the Man Utd thread?

4 days and 2 hours to kick off

My point was that if he claimed loss of control he would surely have made a fist and punched as no one face palms someone, the face palming showed a degree of awareness of what was happening and restraint, and if so he couldn't really claim to have lost control. I do recognise that open hand or not, touching the face is violent conduct according to the rules. I was trying to work out what he could have been doing as his explanations are really one from the following, loss of control? didn't know the rules regard facial contact? or wanted to get sent off? I wonder which it was? doing the exact same to the second player is also questionable, both face contact.
  • I don't think he can argue that he didn't know the Laws, he's been a professional footballer for 6 years, played in the top flight of three countries, European competitions, the ACON and the World Cup

The FA won't care why he did it, just that he did it
