  • Ironically we are likely to be the main talking point in the pre-match for Spurs v Liverpool on Sky this evening

  • I can imagine Wolves laughing a little this evening, you leave us stating we were unable to provide the funds promised and now you are sacked deemed unable to provide the results promised.

News conference scheduled for 9am tomorrow. To unveil Potter, maybe?

You wait till I start calling our new manager GPO. 😂

But he did pretty well at Wolves, took over when they were bottom and finished 13th with no cash to spend
  • I agree, I am sure they were sad to see him go at that time.

Sorry mate, I was guilty of that

  • JL releases a classy statement (well his team do).

Continues to train & work despite the horrendous speculation. Classy operator.

Shame it didn’t work out here. I’m not convinced it definitely wouldn’t have worked but so far you can’t argue it’s not been great.
  • I think we would have been better getting Harry Potter. It's going to take some magic to sort this team out.
  • It's good to read about Bowen, I wasn't sure he was a Captain but it appears he has really stepped into that role given him. I think Lopetgui sees it in a perfectly reasonable way in that relegation wasn't likely and he was making progress towards a longer term aim. The drilling for oil analogy was perfect, he felt oil was to be found in the well he was drilling where as it was as reasonable to feel it was a dry well and time to drill elsewhere, which is the decision the club made.
  • Thanks for sharing, I also took the opportunity to subscribe to to his newsletter
  • I think he was trying to get the side to do things beyond their capabilities. You can have great ideas about pressing, passing, attacking, running, but if the players are not capable of doing what you want - plus you can’t clearly communicate it to them - it’s going to end badly. There was no consistent development which meant it was hard to see what the end goal was & how we were going to get there.
  • I think there is something to that. I suspect a part of his remit was more possession based and attacking football as Moyes had come in for a lot of criticism for only being a counter attacking manager. At the beginning of so many games you could see the plan was let them have the ball and when they attack try and nick it and then the wingers take flight, against the top four even the wingers were drawn back to park a bus and we only ever went for it when conceding.

I think many wanted to see us hold possession, build attacks and play in the other teams half but I agree that we didn't really have the players for that, not that many do.
  • I tend to disagree. It looked to me like the low block, 15m further up the pitch, but still with the pointless sideways, sideways, backwards passing movement.
Personally I'm not too worried about possession but want us to be more attacking the opposition at pace, which we do seem to be trying. That's not just counter attacking but getting the ball upfield quicker than we were previously.
