Palace (A) 3pm Sunday 21 April (not on TV)

Glasner has been in charge for 8 games, W2 D3 L3

He plays 3-4-2-1 and apart from injuries he sticks to pretty much the same starting XI

Except there have been a lot of injuries

For starters first choice keeper Sam Johnstone injured his elbow back in March and backup Dean Henderson has been between the sticks for the last four games

He's also having a bit of a problem finding three fit centre backs with Joachim Andersen the only CB to play all eight games.

Marc Guehi has been out since February and Chris Richards has missed the last three. CM/DM Jefferson Lerma and RB Nathaniel Clyne have been played as makeshift CBs to fill the gaps but Lerma picked up an injury against Liverpool.

Joel Ward faces a late fitness test with a groin problem although Rob Holding has been passed fit but he's been out since November and has only played once all season back in September.

In the midfield they've been without DM Cheick Doucoure since November although they signed Blackburn's 20yo CM/DM Adam Wharton on deadline day for £18m with £4m add ons and reports suggest he's been impressive

CM/DM Will Hughes slotted into midfield alongside Wharton when Lerma dropped back into defence but he's another late fitness test. If he's not available then possible options are Jeffrey Schlupp or Jairo Riedewald although neither has started this year

No reported problems with LWB Tyrick Mitchell or RWB Daniel Munoz (signed on loan from Genk in January)and both have started the last eight

Up front Eberechi Eze has started the last six after recovering from injury and Michael Olise started last weekend after two months off. They have replaced Jordan Ayew and Odsonne Edouard behind Jean-Philippe Mateta, another ever present under Glasner and Palace's top scorer with 10

  • I'm sure I've mentioned it, but I would have loved us to sign Wharton in January instead of loaning Phillips; I'm sure we coulda matched Palace's bid. Very good young player imo.

Palace are quite a dynamic team. It will be tricky to get a result there after our efforts on Thursday, but we certainly need one.

    Fabianski
    Coufal - Zouma - Ogbonna - Emerson
    Soucek - Alvarez
    Bowen - Paqueta - Kudus
    Antonio

Looks like Mavropanos & Aguerd will be doubtful but Emerson & Paqueta can come back in to freshen up the side.

With Man Utd & Newcastle playing later in the week (Man Utd I imagine will win), it’s an opportunity to go into sixth albeit with a couple of extra games played.

Given we have Liverpool & Chelsea next, games are running out & we have played more games than some teams, this really is a must-win if we want Europe next year.
  • Whenever ASLEF gives a write-up that suggests the opposition are suffering injuries, loss of form etc. we end up losing.

I’d start Ward-Prowse over Paqueta following Thursdays performance. Paqueta off the bench could be interesting.
  • We cant have both?
  • Looking at Palace's bench over the last few games there is another option if Glasner is short in defence

35yo James Tomkins, just one start back in September against Plymouth in the League Cup but occasionally gets brought on around 88th/89th minute.

    I'm spare today, 12 noon - 8:30pm and I'll be on a train 2pm - 5pm

    Fantastic...
  • Fabiański, Coufal, Zouma ©, Ogbonna, Emerson, Ward-Prowse, Álvarez, Souček, Kudus, Paquetá, Antonio
Subs: Areola (GK), Johnson, Cresswell, Phillips, Cornet, Ings, Casey, Mubama, Orford
  • Bowen missing for this one…

    Fabianski
    Coufal - Zouma - Ogbonna - Emerson
    Soucek - Alvarez - Ward-Prowse
    Kudus - Antonio - Paqueta

Areola & Phillips back on the bench. No Mavropanos or Aguerd.
  • Bowen not even in the squad, I hope Thursday hasn't compromised the rest of his season 🤞🤞🤞.
  • No Bowen = Loss =)

It’s almost must-win. No Bowen is a big blow.
  • Would it be to much to ask for a clean sheet
  • I guess Bowen was given painkiller/injections etc for the match against Leverkeusen. Probably was not really fit to play.
  • I'm sure they said he had injections on Thursday and is probably sore after that, needs a week off to recover.
  • If we're to avoid finishing the season on a real low we really need to win today.

  • I'm stuck on the slowest bus in the universe.
Had hoped to be home in time for KO.

On the down side I have to listen to Tony Gale on Comms
  • Better than the mix tape another passenger on my bus is sharing with us all 😳
  • Good start
  • Fab can't come that far and not get the ball.
  • Paqueta got fouled, ball broke to our player, ref plays advantage, nothing comes of it. Two minutes later, their player gets fouled, ball breaks to one of theirs, ref gives the set piece. We then are pinned in our box until they score.

Where’s the consistency? Why didn’t JWP get a chance to pin them in their box?
  • All over the place
  • Lucky not to be 2-0 down
  • How many more sloppy goals will we concede this season.
  • Shoulda been 2.
  • Full Beach mode engaged, cant finish lower than 13th though thankfully.
  • Don’t even ask. We’ve got Chelsea, Liverpool and City yet.
  • They are all over us.
  • So sloppy, Antonio just waiting for the ball and they nick in.
