I worried about having more of the ball. I thought we were nice on the eye & played some very nice football. But, there is a question mark about our chance creation. In the entire game, the first goal was the only time we looked remotely like scoring during open play (I felt). We had a couple of half chances & the offside goal, but for all the 60%+ possession, we did struggle. Benrahma never produces enough when we have games like that & he is given the ball & the onus is on him to beat a player. I thought all of the front three were off it (including Bowen), but the midfield 3 managed to be so strong it meant we still took 3 points. The back four were good, but Areola still makes me nervous with his overall game (everything but the shot-stopping).

A horrible game to navigate & 3 massive points.
  • I have liked Areola, I think he has played well.
You have to feel for Fabianski however, he was leaguer keeper last year when we won the cup and now cup keeper this year when we are clearly going to win the league.

There are a couple of things with him that worry me a little e.g. he doesn't seem to communicate well with defenders, and is hesitant to come for the ball. Also, while his reaction saves have been really good, he doesn't seem to read the situation or anticipate a shot, Luton's goal being a case in point where he was just rooted to the goal line.
