Imo if we have 13 shots but only ,4 on target, the priority isn't to change the manager it's to get players improving their shooting.

All season we have created low quality, low Xg chances. Can the players show more quality? Yes. But our approach play is consistently laboured, and resulting in us taking pop shots.
  • Do we have an attacking coach? we seem lost in the final third and pass the ball backwards far too often
  • It feels like its been a time since the teams had me on the edge of my seat when gaining possession and attacking. Its like someones taken our mojo
  • Someone new might have time to work with a chunk of the squad but our best players won’t be there. It will be the same as pre season when the Euro players were all given extra time off.
When they put their minds to it they do play some decent football and create chances but have no idea how to put them away and that includes international players. Rice, Scamacca, Bowen, Soucek, Pacqueta, Benrhama should all be capable of putting away at least 10- 25% of the chances created. This season it’s been about 1%.
When we were relegated in 2003 and again 2011 we scored 40 plus goals but conceded a lot more. To even equal those stats we’ve got to average at least 1.5 per game in the remaining 23 whereas at the moment we are averaging 0.6.
  • Now is the perfect time to change imo. Or do we wait untill we've been walloped by Arsenal and then have Brentford a few days later?

Ham, serious question, do you have anyone in mind who'd want to come here, apart from yourself of course 😄?
  • I have an opinion but I guess it would be those that know more than me to make that decision. I wonder if Tuchel would consider us. I can't do it I'm too busy helping to manage my sons Sunday team. Unless the money was right if course.
  • I have absolutely no faith in the board to make a brave decision to change how we play, tbh. I think the best we could hope for would be Rafa, and I really don’t want him. I’d love for us to try Poch or Tuchel, though I do think they’re likely out of reach for us.
  • Yep Poch and Tommy T are 🥧 in the 🌌 stuff imo
  • The more the results keep going like they are, irrespective of how we play, the more the confidence will drain and the more nervy the games will get.
Hopefully the six week break from games will help and it will be like the start of a new season and kick start something better. The break will be worse for teams currently in a good vein of form.
  • Somewhat worrying IMO :
West Ham have suffered nine defeats in their first 15 league games this season, only suffering more losses at this stage of a top-flight campaign once before (10 in 1976-77).
  • Something has to change. I don't think Moyes should go. Put Noble in the dressing room.
  • I thought our approach to the game was much better than last week. Sloppy goal to give away. We were very unfortunate every chance seemed to fall to Paqueta who seemed to be unable to pull anything off today. He did well continuing to get into positions but was very unlucky and think lost composure. This was better than some recent performances but I still struggle to take more hope out of it. We've had a few of those games earlier in the season, where it looked like we might have the ability to turn it around, and then regressed in the next few games.

I think we were the better team, but we lack a goal scorer still.

Confidence will now be the big issue.

I would accept a new manager were he Poch or Tuchel, but I don't want to take a chance on someone mid season and feel Moyes would be better for the task that we are confronted with now, which is very clearly avoid relegation and win the Conference.

I don't imagine Pearce leaving was the issue but Noble may well have been.

We now get to work on things whilst the world cup is on and must just hope our players don't get injured, quick games in succession and possible extra time in knock out rounds are not helpful.

Here's the thing though; at the start of the season, we probably thought Paqueta and Scamacca were likely out of reach. Italy's No9 courted by some of the biggest clubs in Europe and Brazil's No10. We somehow managed to get them to buy into the 'project', so why not a manager that we might consider to be out of our league?

Scamacca reportedly turned down PSG and the CL for us; what's to say we couldn't tempt a Poch or a Tuchel to do the same?

If Villa can get Emery, then I can't see why we have to take the attitude of 'it's either Moyes or Dyche/Benitez'.
  • 18 months ago, we were scoring for fun, set piece specialists, scored from corners almost at will. Something major has changed. Did we possibly bring in too many players in one hit. Possibly. The last two seasons have given us a false sense of brilliance, maybe

We were poor along time before all the new players come in though.
  • Jay. We just avoided relegation that season where there were only 19 teams and only 2 went down. We finished 17th and still scored 40 odd goals.

Jay. We just avoided relegation that season where there were only 19 teams and only 2 went down. We finished 17th and still scored 40 odd goals.

In 76/77? Pretty sure there were more than that, 22 with 3 going down wasn't it? Didn't Spurs go down?
  • We could go for Potter when Chelsea bin him off in the New Year.
  • We could swap with Everton except when Lampard turns up we lock the door and don't answer it.
  • Buffy you’re right. We avoided relegation by 2 points by beating Man U 4-2 in our last game. It was 2 points for a win in those days.
  • After fifteen games, nobody has lost more games than us. Only three teams have scored fewer goals than us. Our league top scorer has two goals, the lowest of all top scorers in the league.

For a team that £165m (according to the Athletic) in the summer, building on a side that finished 6th and 7th in the past two seasons, that’s appallingly bad, embarrassing.
  • alderz, But there isn't anything to be concerned about, well some think so. :p
  • Everything is fine
  • No everything is not fine. I didn’t expect a season like this ( so far) and everyone is entitled to view their opinions on how it’s going wrong.
For me the shouting for the head of the manager is wrong. Everybody has their pet theory, this player/ that player, he’s lost the dressing room, he’s taken us as far as he can,he’s tactically naive, we’re missing Noble/ Pearce,he’s negative, too many new signings, not enough signings, any number of reasons.
My view? We’ve got possibly the best squad since the 90’s and I think at some point they will click. Moyes knows what he’s got and he will turn it around.
However there are no certainties in football and he knows that we may have to grind out results for the rest of the season and that won’t be popular with many of our so called fans, but if West Ham are truly in your blood you’ll get it.
  • Additionally, I really can’t see how people don’t appreciate how much better than some of our recent displays that performance was today. We were sharper, quicker and more direct. We just weren’t sharp enough up front.
Yeah there were two mistakes that led to their goals but overall we were the better team .
  • What do you mean by 'if west ham is truly in your blood you'll get it"?
