That was quite a game, Japan really played their part and to lose like that must have been gut wrenching.
It looked like it was going to be one of those days for Belgium, Lukaku could not hit a barn door, Hazard unluckily hit the post and Japans goalie was probably playing the game of his life.
That being said, Belgium were quite pedestrian in possession and it looked like they were going out, and then the football gods had a say, the most surprised person in the stadium when Vertongen scored was none other than Vertongen, there was no way he meant that.
Heartbreak for Japan but must give Martinez some credit, his subs made all the difference.
I hope neither team from tonight's matches win the trophy, Neymar is a ridiculous human being for having that much talent yet resorting to such play acting, whilst the idea of Martinez being a world cup winning coach just stretches the whole world credibility thing a little two much. I include in that even trump becoming president and brexit as both things are more credible and would make more sense than Martinez winning the world cup.
France are coming good at the right time, they did not show much in the early games but played some neat stuff today against Uruguay.
Deserved to come through, keeping made all the difference today, Lloris made a magical save and the Uruguayan keeper committed a schoolboy howler, the ball was moving but it was pretty much fired at him, you have to get your body behind the ball rather than just flap your hands at it.
Everyone praising Suarez behaviour during this tournament, am really not sure why, he may not have bitten anybody but he was just as niggly as always.
And what a dull let down that was. Before the tournament began I wouldn't have minded seeing either France v Uruguay or Belgium v Brazil as the final.
Particularly disappointing was Uruguay's attitude. The television showed one of them apparently in tears before the final whistle had even gone. Whatever happened to good old-style, old-school Latin American football thuggery. With ten minutes remaining and the game lost he still had plenty of time to attempt to remove at least half the French team's legs just below the knee.
