  • Yeah, Ex suggesting it's basically an addition of performance incentives to his current deal and he'll still be gone in the summer
  • An extension or just more money for Arnie over the next 6 months ?
  • More money based on his performance's I reckon.
  • Good of him to commit now our season is over
  • Apparently Pelle has stormed out of the press conference when asked about Arnies contract lol
  • Baz ffp to me his the same as affording to buy someone new because of injury because wages then also come into it being a loan signing or a transfer cheap fix option, that’s what I meant my friend

Why does it feel like the club is imploding again?
  • I have a sudden urge to grab a corner flag
  • If that’s true I can’t understand why the question was asked in the first place.. Surely the focus should have been entirely on the shambles this evening caused in a large part to his selection and tactics or lack thereof.
  • Sky (I know) reporting that it is an actual extension to 2023.
  • What a joke. What a total joke. It looked like we were doing it fine then we caved in.
  • Certainly looks like it Yeold.

    Bring on the clowns.
  • After tonight's display I think we need Arnie more than he needs West Ham.

    Really?
  • Why not. Will round the night off nicely ;lol
  • Might do it when you least expect it
  • I did laugh when he said he was “back”.....

Did he leave then? Was he injured?

One of the biggest games of the season and he’s again not available, but has some little sweeteners written into his contact....

Is his head okay now, bless him.

    Shambles

After this performance, the board realized that Arnie was suddenly holding all the cards.
  • Perhaps he has been given a loyalty bonus too.
  • He’s already got one written in.....
  • Did the board talk to pelle about armies extending contract according to sky sports he refused to talk about it
  • He was probably as bored of it as the rest of us ;lol
  • Why is it that every time the club does something different to the way people would have chosen to do it (and bearing in mind that not all of the facts/issues are available to the public) it is a shambles/joke?

I want to see Arnie in our team, fired up and firing.

If the club have managed to ensure that, that's excellent news, imo.

I find it very hard to be neagtive about the fact that we have given ourselves a better chance of keeping the best forward (imo) we've had since Deano.
  • I’ve seen where Pelle refused to talk about Arnie’s contract and the question was raised after he’d said he was ashamed of the team and the performance so not the right time.
  • Well that was a bit of a saga.

I’m so pleased I didn’t get caught up in it all ;whistle

I am pleased he stayed, we really do need him. But can he please gag his brother.
  • Another 5 months of him is only going to benefit us providing he is up for it.

In the summer, who knows. A new 5-year deal would have implied commitment, a year extension sounds like a sweetener for staying until seasons end.

But, after watching Carroll & Hernandez last night, god do we need him.
  • Lukerz

A new 5 year deal would have taken him up to 34. Effectively, he's signed a 3.5 year deal (if the 1 year extension is true). There's different ways of framing it, but if the rumour was 'Arnie signed new 3.5 year deal' rather than 'Arnie signs 1 year extension', it sounds far more significant.

I agree with Grey on this. People can be frustrated by the saga, but this is the outcome we all wanted a couple of weeks ago. Our last month, in purely contract terms, can be summarised as:

"West Ham sign Samir Nasri and extend the contracts of two key players - Arnie & Rice"

    Not bad, I'd say.
  • Diangana ;ok
  • Arnie is our best player

He's a game changer and a player who genuinely scares the opposition when they see his name on the team sheet

There is a question mark about how committed he is, but as far as I'm aware he is the type of guy who excels when he's annoyed because he's a fiery character

I just hope he is fully fit, because he was never allowed time to recover properly after he got injured and that's why he looked off the pace for so long

He's an asset and if it's only gonna be another 5 months with him let's hope it's a good 5 months
