  • Can’t believe you’re still on threads after that first half.
  • Can’t believe you’re still on threads after that first half.

    I am undeniable
  • I think after the Millwall game each and every side we play will have the same game plan, which will be strong, physical and intense, they wont beat us at football but can stop us playing with physicality.

The table is starting to shape up now and after a poor start we have got ourselves in the promotion places and we need be on it each and every match to make sure we stay there.

I don’t think they will all have the same game plan. Millwall have played a physical and direct style the whole time Alex Neil has been there. QPR don’t play like that at all, and their squad isn’t built to. They’ll be up for it, but I don’t think every side suddenly turns into well drilled, physical battlers just because they’re playing us.
  • I am not saying they will all be able to pull it off as Millwall did, but I think they will recognise it's the way to unsettle out of our wish to play football. I think that will be the template for most teams to attempt now. we'll see what comes.

???? Nathan Jones is the Charlton manager, do you mean Alex Neil ? 😉

Yeah they’re definitely the same guy in my head

    Poor old QPR

This is their 11th season in the Championship, they’ve never been bad enough to get relegated but never good enough to make the playoffs and their best finish was 9th in 2020/21.

Since they were relegated they’re had three different owners, 10 permanent managers plus two caretakers including Steve McLaen, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink Ian Holloway and inevitably Neil Warnock

The 10th is ex-Rennes and Strasbourg Julien Stephan who joined in Jul 2025. In his first season they finished 15th on 58 points, which I suppose is a slight improvement from 15th on 56pt the previous season

This season started well with three wins and a draw before they lost at home to Boro, followed by three draws. Last time out they were losing 2-0 to Preston and down to 10 men by half time but came back to equalise in the 90th minute

Last season the goals came from centre forwards Richard Kone (11) and Rumarn Burrell (10) with the creativity coming from CM/AM Harvey Vale and CM Nicolas Madsen

Kone got injured against Boro then suffered a further injury in an U-21 game yesterday while Vale stayed on the bench against Preston and has withdrawn from the Ireland squad

They’ve got some new faces, LB Dennis Cirkin (Sunderland, free) had started four in a row but got red carded against Preston, Glen Kamara (loan Stade Rennais) started in Vale’s place and 21yo N Ireland GK Pierce Charles (Man City loan) has replaced last season’s first choice goalkeeper Joe Walsh who has joined Wigan (currently bottom o League One) on loan (how bad was he to deserve that?)

It all seems a long way from the early 90s when QPR were in the top half of the Premier League, Gerry Francis was in the dugout and Les Ferdinand was banging them in
  • so ASLEF .There player sent off against Preston i assume will miss our match cant remember who he was is he usely in there team and will he be missed ,Hope so
  • We haven't beaten a London-based team this season in any competition. We lost to Charlton and Fulham, and had draws against Watford and Millwall. Will it be our first London derby win this season?
  • Yes it will

"They’ve got some new faces, LB Dennis Cirkin (Sunderland, free) had started four in a row but got red carded against Preston,"

Most likely ex-Brighton RB Tariq Lamptey, joined from Fiorentina on a free in July, started at LB twice for QPR this season
  • Ok scrub that, Tariq Lamptey got injured in the 0-0 draw with Charlton two weeks ago

LB/RB 23yo Kealey Adamson, 2 starts and 6 subs so far, just got his first call up for Australia. His first team debut was as a substitute in extra time during our 2-1 win over QPR in the FA Cup

I'd forgotten we played them!!! Alzheimer's,,,
  • Aus play Brazil in Brisbane at 11am BST on Tuesday 29th Sept. Could be a little tired for a game three days later.
  • The appeal against the red card has been rejected so Cirkin will definitely miss this

They've got LB Boy Kemper (Breda, free), he's expected to return from an ankle injury but won't have played for 7 weeks

Other option would be playing CB/RB Amadou Mbengue on the left (played LB once last season) with either Ireland CB Jimmy Dunne (played RB 12 times last season) or N Ireland winger Paul Smyth (played RB in the 2nd half against Preston and scored the equaliser) on the right

    It's 11 days later

    But...

Rumarn Burrell has been called up by Jamaica who are away to Honduras, 3am GMT Tuesday. So that's a flight back to Jamaica then a flight back to UK, maybe Thursday?

Stephans plays 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 but with Kone and Vale both injured he's paired Burrell with some young CFs - 22yo Alfie Lloyd (7 appearances this season, no goals), Wales U21 17yo Leon Scarlett (4, 0) and 22yo Justin Obikwu (1, 0)

Earlier he tried Moroccan winger Ilias Chair (6, 2 goals) alongside Kone, QPR’s longest serving player in his 10th season at Loftus Road

Another long haul flyer will be CM Jonathan Varane, away with Martinique, their last match is home to El Salvador 11pm Monday (GMT),

I know goalkeepers play til they're old, but Richard Dunne is 47 and retired 11 years ago! Jimmy Dunne is the man you're thinking of.
  • I used to love the odd occasion when an outfield player had to go in goal.
  • Exception being when Moore had to go in goal in the league cup semi final replay against Stoke.
  • Good news

We played in a friendly against Wycombe at Rush Green yesterday, 2-0

Soucek started, played 65 mins and scored a penalty

Ex says Alvarez and Cornet came on in the 2nd half

  • Yesterday's starting XI

Exception being when Moore had to go in goal in the league cup semi final replay against Stoke
I was there and remember the depressing journey home
  • This is a big fixture for us as many of the top ten are playing each other so as long as we can do our part on Friday we can't fail but move away from some teams around us.

The big match is Wolves Vs Middlesboroughin 3rd and 4th, but WBA play Birmingham and Bristol City play Charlton as well.
  • Whoops

On loan CM/DM Glen Kamara was supposed to be with the Finland squad in Belarus for a match tonight but QPR flew him back to London without asking the Finnish FA

Under FIFA rules Finland have to give their approval for him to play on Friday

    And the Finns ain't happy
  • Finns ain't wot they used to be. =)
  • Rumarn Burrell will definitely not be playing Friday, he got injured in Jamaica's first game and will be out until late November

QPR do have 21yo CF Rayan Kolli, he was rumoured to be leaving over the summer and has been left out of the match day squad

He has been training with the first team over the international break and has been scoring goals in U-21 matches but hasn't played more than 45 minutes
  • One player to keep an eye on is QPR's 23yo centre back/defensive midfielder Ronnie Edwards who joined from Southampton for £4.5m in January. Played every minute of every match so far

He was part of England's U18 2022 and U21 2025 Euros winning squads, has been voted QPR's player of the month August and September. He's not big but reads the game, can pass the ball, got an assist with a through ball to Rumarn Burrell against Cardiff and took the armband when captain Jimmy Dunne was unavailable.

Sounds a bit like a young Declan

    Hermansen
    Walker-Peters - Mavropanos - Kilman - Morato
    Mukasa - Engels
    Bowen - Pablo - Solomon
    Taty

Areola, Veltman, Scarles, Magassa, Orford, Souček, Austbø, Ajala, Piroe

Provided all are fit - I am not sure Álvarez or Cornet will be involved, but they have both been training this week.
  • I would include Veltman at right back and Souček from the start.
