    That was so depressing as we were the better team until we scored. Sakha an unused sub in that match is hard to take, fresh legs and an outlet. Whilst if you are going to try and hold on, unless he was actually injured you don't take Rice off for anything.

    The best team won in the end but they were not allowed to be the better team until we scored and sat too deep.

    They must have been watching too much West Ham, they started moving deeper and deeper with 30 minuets to go, with nobody to play it out to the ball kept coming back.

    I can only think it was irrational tactics adopted due to being able to taste the prize. We had everyone back meaning all we were trying to do was clear the ball. When you get an outlet who will be given the ball and run forward it draws the opposition back and takes the game further up the pitch. To attempt an attackers against defenders for 30 minutes with the aims of score or clear is just so irrational.

    It hurts for two reasons, it was Argentina and we were better than them up to the goal and could easily be in the final now.

    Now for the most pointless match in the whole of football - the 3rd and 4th play off, it makes the charity shield look meaningful.

    In cold hard reflection.
    Tuchel's 35 minutes of negative tactics and substitutions got away rather lightly.
    Argentina scored two goals, they hit the post twice and Pickford made two really World Class saves.
    Therefore, IMO, the final score could quite easily have been 1-6.
    I wonder if Tuchel would then have regrets had that happened?

    No. Argentina used anti-football tactics of fouling to stop any opposition attack. The referee let them. After the goal they attacked and England used defensive tactics to stop them. These tactics did not include deliberate fouling or gamesmanship, so they can't be described as anti-football. Stupid tactics, dull football yes, but not anti-football.

    Two days later I’m still angry.
    That defeat was completely down to Tuchel not the players.I assume his thought process was “ we did it in the last two games and it worked so we’ll do it again “

    There was a World Cup final place there for the taking and he blew it.
    So, so disappointing.

    After the drinks break in the second half, wouldn't it have been novel if Tuchel had brought on an attacking player as a statement of intent that we're going for more goals. That could have really set Argentina back on their heels as trying to defend for 35minutes against the world champions was always going to be an impossible task.
    Could be worth trying against France because I'm sure nobody really cares about the result.
