Clearly not if he went to a League One side

West Ham United are one of the clubs interested in signing 20-year-old English Brighton winger Tommy Watson, joining other interested Championship clubs including West Brom, Leicester City, Hull City, and Derby County. The Sunderland Echo reported on Saturday that West Ham are interested in signing the England under-20 international on loan. West Ham United could offer the winger, who was on loan at Millwall last season, regular playing time as they seek an immediate return to the Premier League. Those close to Watson are reportedly keen for the attacker to play regularly, with their priority being to find an environment where he can build rhythm and consistency over a full season. Watson joined Brighton in July 2025 and his contract there runs until June 2029. His market value is currently estimated by Transfermarkt to be €7.00m.

Hull City are of course a Premier League team & Leicester City in Division 1.
  • Has anyone looked at his squarka stats =)
  • IronHerb, Is there a next?
  • Wonder if we could convince Delap on loan with an opion to buy

His move to chelsea has gone horrible and my Chelsea cousin says his confidence is so low, but hes a guy who did well for Ipswich he should smash the championship

Also, we're favorties to go up, so should appeal to him as other than Ipswich (who haven't shown interest) hes not been linked away at all
  • Delap is not short of potential suitors should Chelsea look to part ways with the 23-year-old, with Everton, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United all keen to sign the striker.

    This rumour says he is.
  • Solomon, Engels, Isidor - that would be decent, plus a CB (minimum signings)

That 3 sound like some kind of law firm........
  • I personally do not rate Solomon. I would rather Sorba Thomas.
  • He’s one of our ownnnnnn 🎶

Going to be hard to sign many players at our current negotiating rate. Loans will not interest most clubs at this stage - possibly in the last week of August, but not now. Isidor not for sale, Adingra not likely to be loaned, Engels offer not enough, Soloman facing a fan backlash, Disasi waiting for better. Looks like the lad Dieng on a free is as close as we are at this stage.
  • Good thing we looked into doing our transfers early unlike in previous seasons! Oh that was just some key outgoings. Other clubs got their new players in so they could get acclimatised to their surroundings, a bit like Moyes and his not used to playing in the EPL mantra.
  • Been around seventy five 'transfers in' in the Championship so far this summer. So that's around three per club. Forty per cent of those have been free or loan transfers.

Like everyone else I would prefer early rather than late transfers, but if we are chasing targets then I'm happy to wait.

Out of interest, re Solomon, are you referring to the team he currently is employed for or his nationality ?
  • Engles playing for Celtic so that's not near

    jay,

I think it's more about some instagram posts he's made regarding the situation in Gaza.

I haven’t read them , but thx… I suppose in a way he’s more entitled to comment being Israeli rather than the loads who do make judgments when having no connection to that part of the world 🤷‍♂️
  • Can't quite agree there. Everybody is entitled to comment. You don't have that entitlement restricted because of your nationality.

If readers want to give added weight (value) to an opinion expressed solely on the basis of the opiner's nationality, fair enough.

(Actually, not really fair enough. I don't believe an opinion expressed has more value because of who your parents were, I prefer to evaluate the opinion itself.)

    You are right.
Problem is there are far too many woke lefties in our world that really haven’t a clue on what they comment on, they just do it because IMO they are useless idiots 👍🏻

lol I think I might be a woke leftie, depending on how that term is defined.
  • edited August 3
It actually should have been ‘useful idiots’, not useless.
Take the woke brigade chanting for ‘Gays for Gaza’ these IMO ignorant people really do not have a clue, if they wanna see what will happen if they send Gays to Gaza and see what happens to these people, not sure they’ll still be chanting such nonsense, however these woke lot sadly IMO are nowadays everywhere,
We all entitled to our opinions though and if they wanna go wild and chant what they believe in, that’s up to them, but to me, as a gay person, they are absolutely making it 100% worse for the community I am a part of ….👍🏻 Time for sleep now, good night 😴
  • Anyway, back on topic.
IMO if we are unable to get a minimum of 3 signings in I think we are just an injury or 2 away from finding the league a bit tougher than some think.
Our Midfield especially with Soucek injured looks weak…
  • 8 comments on the transfer thread. No transfer news. Just an incredibly disappointing set of comments.

Good luck to him - remind me a lot of when we sold Cullen to Anderlecht. Would I want us to sign Cullen this window? No.

All the best to him. He’ll play weekly there. I assume we have something planned with the £10m.

Of course, there is also a view that Freddie wanted to go to a Champions League club, that will compete for trophies. It’s not just ‘surely we should’ve kept him?’
