Not necessarily. The new financial rules come in for next season, and it's apparently you can spend 85% of your income on the squad. The profit / loss over three seasons is out the window, so it really depends on current wages and stuff like that.

EDIT: Posted that before I saw the specifics from the club where they said it would be happening lol

I don't know how much difference this makes these days, it's no longer a fix all for financial rules. The same reason Newcastle and Villa can't spend much money despite having incredibly wealthy owners.

The report does state selling players is an option but if it’s not the preferred option then we need investment.
The article headlines that the report says we must sell players regardless.

Amortisation is “the action or process of reducing or paying off a debt with regular payments”.

Does that mean we bought players on instalments and it's costing more than expected?

Probably a good thing, he's suffered three separate hamstring injuries that have kept him out for a total of 6 months over the last two seasons and carrying around all that upper body weight must be putting extra strain on his legs

The article on Antonio is a bit eye opening - I love the guy and truly hope he is able to get back to playing regularly but surely, after what was widely believed to be at least a career ending injury, he should have realized that a request to train with a potential team before being signed was a reasonable one.

I agree Chicago, he speaks like a 25 year old who'd had a hamstring tear, rather than 35 year old who had broken his leg in four places.

In all seriousness- I think it a crazy idea - the established play offs are just about tolerable but to have a team that finishes eighth secure promotion makes a mockery of the season

I agree. No side deserves to be promoted from 8th over a side finishing 3rd over 46 matches played. I get the keeping league matches interesting but it has to stop somewhere and I would say 6th is enough.

I never liked playoffs. Top three (or two, like in the old days) should go up. Playoffs are an American import. Half the teams in every sport get into the playoffs over here. You can even have a losing record, and still get in!
