Odegaard knackers his knee while fouling Summerville.

    Good!
  • Stop start sort of game .suites us
  • Odegaard down injured, hurt as he fouled Summerville which wasn't blown.
  • Oh dear, but flag has gone up, hopefully VAR doesn't give them the goal.

Diouf got lucky there, Saka was clearly off but Diouf was equally clearly caught napping

Or equally, Diouf held the defensive line.

Magassa could easily have been booked for nudging the ball away.

Edit: but then makes a super block as Arsenal pile on the pressure.

Edit edit; it was AWB with the block.
  • Nervy moments.
  • Of course it was him
  • Fernandes sleeping to let Eze run in behind him, decent save by Areola from a powerfully stuck shot, and it fell nicely for Rice to slot home.

I think as long as we can do damage limitation here, they are so far out of our league player wise it was always going to be a case of when.

The issue we now have is we are returning to the style of Moyes - no real possession or threat & trying to stay in the game, which Potter was trying (& failing I suppose) to take us away from.
  • Forest went at teams last year, and were very dangerous on the counter. I think Nuno just needs to sort out the absolute disaster that Potter left in defence and then we’ll build up better.

Yeah I am surprised with how little we have offered on the break. I’d have expected one or two moments.
  • Lucky that didn't bounce back off Areola into the goal.

    1-0 HT.
  • Tough game and plenty of effort but we are chasing shadows. Hardly seen anything in the top-third of the pitch.
  • Does everybody agree Füllkrug offers nothing?

Was just thinking the same tbh. I get that it's tough when you're as isolated as a CF usually is for us, but he doesn't really offer much.
  • Yeah but it’s every game, not just Arsenal away
  • I don't think Haaland would score in our team at the moment
  • The only striker that has reliably offered anything for us is Antonio, and it was only ever because he was so athletic and hard working. We don't seem to have ever worked out how to play to a striker, regardless of manager.

I’m less fussed about the scoring, because if we given Bowen chances he can cover that. It’s more the lack of hold up and being an outlet.
  • I still remain very unconvinced by Areola as a keeper, but it’s nice to see him make some contact with corners
  • Who would he hold it up for. Takes ages for anybody to get up there. He doesn’t have a problem with Germany.
  • 2nd goal is coming

He doesn’t win headers or free kicks or control the ball. Maybe Germany play differently to him than we do.
  • Wow. Magassa and Fullkrug off for Potts and Marshall
  • Gaffer obviously feels the same.
