  • Is one draw a run ..just asking =)
  • Nuno's first presser coming shortly.
  • Earthy out for 4-6 weeks still, Todibo and JWP haven't been excluded and are part of the training squad this week, AWB has trained this week. Everyone bar Earthy available.
  • Hello loss, my old friend

    And Soucek is unavailable still.
  • Doesn’t Soucek also slow the midfield dynamism down?
  • He can, but he does also bring goals and threat in the box when getting forward. I see Soucek as being used to bring extra defensive strength if seeing out a game and also being introduced to seek a goal when needing one. He may not start as often as he used to but I do think he will be valuable.
  • Doesn’t Soucek also slow the midfield dynamism down?

    What do you think?
  • @alderz, Haven’t we been here before? Yes he does IMO & for someone who is in the team mainly for his ability to not only get on the end of our crosses but also help the defence repel corners he hasn’t excelled at doing that. It’s a shame we can’t bring him on in a special teams capacity, JWP could come on to take our dead ball situations.
  • JWP has done very little to enhance his legend as a dead ball specialist since joining us, zero free kick goals and so many near post corners that were found wanting. Even the commentators have got tried of recounting the David Beckham stat as they have been waiting two and half years for him to score one.

On the bright side we've won our last two trips to the Emirates

On the not-so-bright side they've only lost once this season, at Anfield, the only game where they failed to score, and they've only drawn once, at home to City, the only team to score at the Emirates so far

They've got a few injuries but due to the depth, and quality, of the squad it doesn't seem to have bothered them

Up front Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are both recovering from surgery so Viktor Gyokeres (£55m Sporting) has started every game apart from the Carabao Cup win over Port Vale

Madueke (£48.5m Chelsea) suffered a knee injury against City but they have Eze (£60m Palace) Saka, Martinelli and Trossard to call on

Odegaard is back from a shoulder injury while Martín Zubimendi (£51m Real Sociedad) has replaced Partey (Villarreal) in central midfield with Christian Norgaard (£15m Brentford) left on the bench

At the back Gabriel had to come off against Olympiacos on Wednesday but Arteta thinks he'll be fit for Saturday and if he isn't then Cristhian Mosquera (£13m Valencia) will take his place

    Best Guess

    Raya
    Timber Saliba Gabriel Calafiori
    Odegaard Zubimendi Rice
    Saka Gyokeres Eze

    A draw would be marvellous...
  • ASLEF, what's with the negativity - massive WIN. You heard it here first.

Coat please, miss - it's the Crombie over the back there. =)
  • Well Nuno has had them for a week to try and get it right so………..
Yeah, I’d take a point now.

I predict a spirited performance with lots of positives to build on, but ultimately a one or two goal loss.

I am going 1-0 Arsenal (not from a corner).

I think as long as we avoid a thrashing, we can move forward to the next run of games. But I hope the players go there with the aim of winning. I am sure Summerville & Diouf can cause issues.

I’d probably go same 11 as Everton (despite Füllkrug’s lack of anything).
  • I am sure Nuno will filed an unchanged team unless there are injuries but I get jitters every time Mavropanos gets the ball at his feet. He could be replaced but Todibo has never looked fit and Igor may need time to bed-in.
  • How do you bed in someone without playing them.
  • Mavropanos has a lot of what it would take to be a pretty decent CB, but he's always got that capacity for a complete howler at any moment.

Although harsh on KWP who IMO has done well....
    Anyway, COYI
  • Fullkrug has to do better with that header.
  • Fullkrug held down when he could have easily got his head on the corner.
  • Mavropanos has got a cut after a clash of heads.
  • Is it just me but in the last couple of games when defending a corner or close free kick, our defenders literally bounce up and down in anticipation of making a jump up, I reckon they must have have been drilled to do that as previously they had remained rooted to the spot.
  • Might be they're using it as a "key" to get their jump in.
  • Not sure how they didn't score there.

Arsenal are the new Stoke, so maybe AWB's physicality compared to KWP was a factor in the decision.

Not saying it is a bad thing, it is just a thing that I recall being drilled into us as schoolboys……

  • Every time Kilman has the ball I get nervous.
  • Every time Kilman has the ball I get nervous.

Every time West Ham have the ball I'm nervous, as well as every time the opposition has the ball.
