Management Merry Go Round 2025/26

Thought I'd open a thread with Potter, Amorim and Nuno all rumoured to be close to the exit

Southgate and Carrick have been linked with United, Forest allegedly want Marco Silva although Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers have also been mentioned while we don't seem to be linked with anyone yet

Before anyone suggests it may I just say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  • Hadn't he just taken Alvarez on loan from us?
  • @Slacker, NO you may not 😄.
  • Ten Hag sacked my Leverskusan after two matches! to be fair it was a strange appointment in the first place but still a new low for time given.

  • Ah! So the bookies got it wrong, again.
  • Sacking Nuno and bringing in Ange is sort of crazy. To go from a defence first manager who plays a deep tactic and attacks on the counter, to a guy who wants his teams to be pressing and playing on the halfway line feels like shooting yourself in the foot.
  • I think Nuno had the same issue in his run in last season that we had when we were chasing a Champions League place, he went from attacking on the counter when teams saw them as a potential three points earlier in the season to actually having to attack teams who didn't come forward as much out of respect for them. It's hard to go from a counter attacking side to an attacking side looking to work in the teams half and break them down.

I think Nuno is a good manager and will find his next job soon enough.

As for Ange, apparently he has told Forest to book the open top bus for next season already.
  • We have quite a good record for getting managers of other teams sacked, don't we.

Not sure it reflects very well on us!

It might take Forest a while to get used to the new tactics which is good news for anyone playing them between now and Christmas, maybe for the rest of the season

Add to that they have to play in Europe and their turmoil could be useful to us
  • "His experience of coaching teams at the highest level"

I'm still struggling to get my head around this part of the Forest statement. 🤷‍♂️
  • Potter or Amorim next to go, If I was a betting man…,
  • If you were a betting man wouldn’t you choose one or would you do each way. 😏

Could happen on the same day ?!?!

Potter is likely to last longer than Amorim. We have Palace at home followed a trip to Moyes's mob. Manchester United play Chelsea then Brentford.
  • Definitely Amorim as they will have more options than us waiting to fill his shoes and a board more willing to pay him off.

I will admit when Moyes went I definitely didn't want Lopetgui, I was also very lukewarm about Potter at the time but would have been very happy with Amorin. He looked like the right choice as in playing decent football, a success in Portugal and a young manager with potential ready to move into a bigger league. I don't think he should be written off yet as Man Utd is a bit of a poisoned chalice at present as the expectations are so high yet come from a time when there were less well bankrolled opposition.

I think if I were Sullivan I would have someone quietly sound out Nuno on Monday, just to see where he sits on the issue of a quick return. If I had to answer who I thought would be more likely to keep us up this season I would have to say Nuno than Potter. Potter is looking very much more like Chelsea Potter than Brighton Potter at present.
  • Has Lampard been sounded out. Read it somewhere I think.
  • This is the funniest of boards of any club. They sack him every time they get relegated from the Premier League and then hire him again each time his replacement fails to do any good in the Championship. They never realise he is not the problem, but the leap needed regard personnel and the time it takes to recruit a Premier League level squad.

  • They might as well have hired DeOntay Wilder.

My name is Lampard, Frank Lampard. Agent 0-0-7

  • The Wolves manager has earned himself a new deal by losing the first four games of the season! Considering they play all three newly promoted teams in their next five games I think they could have afforded to wait a few weeks before securing him longer term.

What are the odds on Potter?

What are the odds on Potter?

They need patience, they know he never wins a trophy in his first season but give him a second and the good times roll.
  • The good news is Ange is safe for now and each fixture they give him helps us. He nearly manged to get Spurs into a relegation fight last season and will likely get Forest relegated if allowed to.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe says Amorim "needs to demonstrate he is a great coach over three years."

Amorim took over 11 November last year so two more years to go!

Only seven EPL managers have been in their current jobs for more than two years
