There is absolutely no consolation in saying a few of us saw this coming 😞. Are there too many players who simply can’t play the way GP wants them to? Sorry I don’t want to be thinking avoiding relegation after the start we have had will be acceptable. Our best ball winning midfielder has now left so we now need to replace him. We need a reboot but don’t have the funds to do it?
I just saw the goals from the match. For three of the goals, West Ham’s defence simply stopped taking an active part in the game. And Hernandez showed just why he was relegated last season. I honestly think schoolboys would have done a better job than some of the team for those goals.
There is an argument that when you have 5 at the back, nobody actually knows what to do, especially when you play fluid attacking sides who all interchange. Back to basics; 4-3-3.
My two penneth for what it’s worth: First half at Sunderland was pretty good and looked promising, second half the wheels came off and heads went down which to me is totally unacceptable. Against Chelsea apart from the first ten minutes or so we were overrun by a very good side. I couldn’t fault the effort or the fight but we were simply outclassed. Ok so it’s a really bad start to the season but I saw small signs in both matches to hope that all is not doom and gloom-yet.
