  • Archer strikes, 5-1.
  • Woakes puts down a caught and bowled chance that he really should have taken.
  • Carse gets the second when Nair doesn't play a shot and is given out lbw, 41-2.
  • Gill is given out lbw onfield, reviews, but it's 3 reds so India lose a review as well as their captain. Carse with the wicket, 53-3, another wicket tonight will make things more interesting tomorrow. Nightwatchman coming in.
  • The umpire saves Deep, it's umpire's call on an lbw shout and he survives.

...another wicket tonight will make things more interesting tomorrow.

Stokes gets that wicket in the final over, 58-4 at the close.

  • Cracking test match.
    Tomorrow will be a nailbiter.
  • Archer strikes in his second over of the morning, bowling Pant. 71-5.

And now Stokes makes a great decision to review off his own bowling, getting Rahul lbw. 81-6.
  • Archer strikes again, a brilliant caught and bowled taken one handed diving away to his right. 82-7.

    WHAT. A. CATCH!

I think I need another cup of tea.
  • Woakes strikes just before lunch to break a partnership that was edging India slowly towards their target. Bumrah will be out in the middle with Jadeja after lunch, with only Siraj to come after that. 112-8 at lunch, with India needing another 81 for victory.
  • It's proper tense, isn't it?
  • Woakes gets an lbw decision from the umpire, but it's reviewed. It's Jadeja, so this is huge.
  • Unfortunately he got outside the line, so he survives.
  • And then hits the next ball for 6. Only 62 needed now.
  • England are hampered somewhat by Bashir being off the field with a broken finger, albeit on his non-bowling hand. It's a big workload for the seamers.

After a single over of spin from Root, Bashir is back on the pitch and bowling.

Finally Woakes makes another breakthrough, Bumrah gone for just 5 off 54 balls. 147-9, still needing 46 to win.
  • Whichever way this goes in the end - what an advertisement for test cricket. Over five days this match had more twists and turns than a twisty-turny thing
  • Tea. India need 30 to win, England need 1 wicket. Nailbiter.

Harsh way for India to lose, but what a fantastic day's cricket. Bashir, broken finger and all, taking the final wicket with the ball spinning back off Siraj's bat onto the stumps and just about dislodging a bail.
  • And breeeeathe.
    What a brilliant Test.
    🎉👏
  • First really decent side we’ve come against since the Baz ball era and we’ve been found woefully wanting.
Our bowlers are not threatening and apart from the odd innings our batters are basically mindless.

    2-1 up though
  • Whichever way this goes in the end - what an advertisement for test cricket. Over five days this match had more twists and turns than a twisty-turny thing

It's a real advert for five day tests, all three so far, and five test series.
  • England win another toss and revert to type by putting India in.
  • India 78-0 at lunch, it would be nice to take some wickets before lunch when we put them in.
  • Some good bowling though, the Indian batsmen batted well and rode their luck Woakes, in particular, didn't get the 'nicks' his spell deserved - often a game of millimetres!
  • Woakes finally does get rewarded, Rahul gone, 94-1.
  • Dawson gets a wicket on his comeback, in just his second over. 120-2.
