You didn’t lose, so you keep going.
  • On this forum we respect the point
  • There's 2 weeks after this till our next game, I'd be tempted to not risk Paqueta or Zouma even if they should be OK; we should have enough to beat Bristol City without them. I've no idea what's happening with Cornet; he makes the bench and then he doesn't, there are suggestions that he keeps breaking down in training which may explain this, but it basically means we'll never be able to offload him if that's the case. It'll be a worry if he doesn't get game time in this.
  • Strong as we can put out ,They can rest afterwards
  • Bristol City are only four points of the Championship play off places, this will not be easy, if we want to progress in the FA Cup we will need our strongest available side.
  • I guess the player and medical team will know but unless Paquetta and Zouma are without any residue of their recent injury I would rest them as Buffy has suggested. We will need them whilst Aguerd and Kudus are at AFCON. I would however play the strongest side possible those two aside.

We will be strong favourites but it won't be a walk over.
  • Fabianski
    Coufal - Mavraponas - Ogbonna - Cresswell
    Soucek - Alvarez - JWP
    Bowen - Antonio - Benrahma

Have you seen something that suggests Antonio will be fit to start? He's not even made the bench yet since he got injured, has he?
  • Fabianski
    Johnson - Mavropanos - Ogbonna - Emerson
    Bowen - Ward-Prowse - Soucek - Benrahma
    Mubama - Ings
  • I don't think Benrahma is good enough to prevent that midfield getting walked through.
  • I might be in a minority here but I think that this year is not one to prioritise the FA cup. If we go out we go out, fine, but it gives our players much needed rest in our challenge for a top 6 place and the Europa. Both are fairly far already so I would go and see how far we can go in the cup but I wouldn't play our strongest team, yet. If at some point we are in the quarters and all the top teams are out - fair enough - but I want our best players fit and rested for the league and the Europa.
  • After Sunday unless there’s a replay we don’t play again for two weeks which should be ample rest time.
  • Yeah, but missing the next rounds gives us extra breaks and/or at lest less games which need to be rescheduled.

    Nope.

I can sort of agree with that Munich, my instinct is to always go all out for the FA Cup but with the Europa going well at present and flying high in the league it may jeopardise those campaigns. I am also still a bit bruised by the Caraboo quarter final and think what would be the point if when we meet a big side and we don't field our best eleven because of other fixtures. Moyes will prioritise the Europa and League then so we may as well use this now to give minutes to the b team. Maybe lets see Cornet, Mubama, Fornals, Benrhama.
  • We are flying high in the league but, after looking at our upcoming fixtures, we have tough games and if we're still 6th after the next six that, for me, would be really impressive.

The realistic me does not think we're good enough to be finishing 6th or that close to it) but I do think stranger things have happened than us getting to a wembly final.
  • I wabt to see a Plan B that works.

A word of warning for anyone going to the match

London Underground technicians and maintenance workers are going on strike Sunday evening so services will be shutting down around 5:30pm

Elizabeth line, DLR, London Overground, etc. will not be effected
  • @Bazshuayi - I would think that many would have said the same before Christmas and look at who we beat. All teams up top are currently beatable and Chelsea, Arsenal and ManU are in debatable form (or completely out of it) so I would rather keep my powder dry for the league and later for the Europa.
  • City haven't had the best season so far, they sacked Nigel Pearson at the end of October when they were 15th (P14 W5 D3 L6) and replaced him with Oxford United's manager Liam Manning who has been slightly better (P11 W4 D3 L4)

Top scorer this season and last season is Scottish U21 CF Tommy Conway, joined City when he was 7yo.

Another player to keep an eye on is 22yo Irish international AM/CF Jason Knight, signed from Derby County in the summer for £2m

    ===========================================

Just saw this. westhamzone.com have an "injury expert", "a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist" who has announced...

"Mohammed Kudus will be missing the game against Bristol City on Saturday, 6 January, due to a thigh injury"

Clearly the "injury expert" wasn't listening when Moyes gave his post match interview on Tuesday night

  • Cornet is shown is some of the training photos today, I'd really like to see him feature on Sunday.

Totally fair mindset Munich. However, for me, it was a shock to beat Arsenal and surely only a supreme optimist will think we will do it again in proximity. Utd away... We dont tend to win there often and we also struggle to beat Brentford. Forest and Everton away, on the premise that Man Utd are out of form, are hard places to get a result so maybe even harder than Man Utd? Bournemouth are a form team too but them at home is probably on paper our easiest game (after we've played Sheff Utd).

I'm not being pessimistic about it. I just think, as said, it would really impressive to still be sixth after those games.

This is about winning and making it into the 4th round not about giving second eleven players a run out on what could easily be a banana skin.
  • Telegraph -

West Ham striker Michail Antonio has suffered a setback on the brink of his return from injury and could miss the rest of January.

The 33-year-old has not played since Nov 12 but was expected to play in the FA Cup third round against Bristol City this weekend after almost two months on the sidelines.

But it is understood he suffered a slip in training at the club’s Rush Green base, which tweaked the injury and is expected to keep him out for another two or three weeks.

All your fault, you cursed him by selecting him to start. 😂🤣😂

  • I know Ironherb doesn't rate Antonio as a striker but to jinx him like that is rather unfair hahaha

    That's why I'm not a manager. 😂

Full house apparently so our biggest ever home FA Cup crowd so I guess those who want to make this a low priority may be in the minority.
