Unless we sort out reinforcements in January we will be lucky to achieve top 10 this season and our season will rely on our EL exploits. 5 points out of a possible 21 is relegation form although luckily we are well out of that.

We definitely need reinforcements, but we'd need them to have more of an impact than the summer signings.
Areola hasn't forced his way past Fabianksi, Kral doesn't get a kick, Vlasic hasn't had anything like a run of games, and at £30m is looking like a bit of a wild punt. The only success has been Zouma, who is of course injured.
Signings absolutely needed, but will they even get a game?

We won't get relegated but carry on and will finish about 10th and all of our good work will all have been for nothing. David needs to stop faffing about in the transfer market and get in some players early in the window not at the end.
You know exactly what I mean. Because of our early season form we don’t have to worry about relegation whereas we would certainly start to feel nervous otherwise.
I don’t think anybody expected us to keep this up.
I’ll be honest, I gave up on our top four hopes when Zouma joined Ogbonna out for the season. There’s a reason we spent £30m on a CB last summer, because it was our priority position.
Then when you added Cresswell to the list, with his experience & delivery, it was pretty obvious we would slide. The last game we won was when Zouma started.
Yeah it’s simple. We lost because of the lack of first choice defenders. When we got it back to 1-1, the way we were playing, we should have won. As it is, Diop & Dawson don’t deal with a simple ball & we end up 2-1 down again. Ogbonna we may have got away with but not both before the end of the year.
December hasn’t been great… in fact a bit of a shocker.. injuries /players out of form and back up players not perhaps good enough… We were poor today, a nice finish by Benrahma, but apart from that he was hopeless, Fornals did little and deserved to be subbed.. Only bright note, Antonio scored again and Lanzini does enough to start… Without Rice V Watford… should be interesting… Just not good enough today

Seriously, did anybody ever really think we'd finish top 4. Surely not. Over 38 matches there are 4 clubs at least who can get more points than we could. Deeper and better squads, more buying power in January. There was never any way we were finishing top 4.
Saints first win in seven. West Ham are really back, aren't they.
The injuries are unfortunate, although with our history not entirely unexpected. A lot of us believed our squad was too thin, in quality if not numbers, and I'm afraid we're now suffering because of it. To lose both first choice centre backs is very unlucky, but relying on players like Yarmolenko and Masuaku is not good enough for a team trying to compete for Europe, IMO.
And as I said earlier, our summer activity is looking a bit sketchy now. Four first team players signed but three of them have barely played, let alone had a positive impact.
Moyes needs to get January's business right otherwise we could have a horrible second half of the season.
Diop landed Dawson in trouble for Southampton's penalty.
Poor performance and it is now worrying. At this form top-half finish would be an achievement. We either can't score or can't stop conceding poor goals. Got no pace in centre-backs. Any CF would push and run and either score or get fouls. Masuaku always needs more touches to cross.
I can't understand why Yarmolenko is brought on. He is consistently poor. It is worth trying someone different like Okoflex or someone else from the U-23s.

We're 7th and have lost all 4 of our best back 4
What you on about
Johnson - Zouma - Ogbonna - Cresswell
How many on that pitch today?

Let’s not get too entitled; we’ll start sounding like Spurs.

May be 3-5-2 for the next game. Need Cresswell
