According to the stats we've only had 3 shots in the entire game
We didn't look interested in attacking most of the time we had the ball and we were wasting a lot of time. Still, very happy with a first win at that ground.
Great result - defence were immense in keeping their shape and limiting Southampton.
Man of match for me was Obiang but Snodgrass looks a great buy with lots of energy insight and a will to win. Carroll superb until taken off and a genuine 20m striker. He stays fit we only get better.
However we would still have got tonked by City today, and that's no criticism of us, just a recognition of the fact they have players that Southampton simply don't have.
Well played the whole team. What I liked about this performance was people moving, looking for the pass which meant we hardly had to go backwards to Randolph. Good games by the new boys especially Snodgrass who put in a full shift.
After we took the lead I thought we were in control, after the 3rd I was very confident... however, once we took Carroll off we offered nothing going forward which is a bit worrying for me.
Great result, they might have had 22 attempts, but me watching it , it didn't seem that much, or rather too many panic situations... Well done Slav and the squad after a rather subject performance in the week... Never doubted him
I have theory, that when they referred to Lanzini's flu, it was the same as what Slav ws hospitalised for. I think it was gastric flu (what Americans call flu, rather than being influenza).
Also, I noticed AC taking on extra water and talking to the physio quite early on .. wonder if it was same thing? And that's why his was subbed. ;hmm
What is clear is that this team is united and playing for each other so for me any talk of Slav being vulnerable is way off the mark.
A poor summer transfer window, moved on from now and we have come back better, a manager who steers us through a crisis and on to an upward trajectory and demonstrates learning from his mistake by buying premiership experienced players this time. I still feel we should have got a striker but can accept a view point of a gamble to save the money until the summer due to being nearly safe.
Slav deserves a pat on the back for his recent results amidst the Payet situation (City aside)
See this is why I'm now a little frustrated - we are in a strange place - 7th is pretty much out of sight. Relegation fears were taken care of in Dec/Jan. No cups to play for - it'll likely be 8th to 11th come what may (even before this game)
Aside from signing the necessary Fonte for oggy and snoddy for Payet that was it in the window
So why at least couldn't they have brought back, say Cullen, for some decent first team experience. If the loan contract allowed this to happen I'd be very disappointed that it didn't happen.
Arguably if the team weren't struggling he wouldn't get a look in anyway?
Not taking anything away from a magnificent performance but if, as some people suggest, the Dave's were keeping the chequebook zipped, other avenues definitely need to be explored.
Once again the likes of koeman and poch are more than open to giving their youngsters opportunities

Who would have thought it.

;scarf
And since it didn't, i guess you are happy for him to stay?
Not sure how anyone could be disappointed with the result or the performance.
Thought we were really well-organised, and played like a unit for a change.
I thought Snoddy was immense, especially 2nd half.
He's got ability, clearly, but he adds an absolutely top work-rate to that.
With him and Big Andy up top, defences are going to get no rest at all.
In previous games we've been punished for going gung-ho at teams; today, imo, we were more sensible, and played the game that was in front of us.

;yercoat
;lol
I use a desktop. ;wink
Need to back it up against West Brom but feeling a lot better now than I did on Wednesday night...
The players reaction at the end was really pleasing to see, and it's a good end to a tough week for Slab, too ;clap
We've got the PC, laptop and tablet on the go, so we can watch football and rugby and still follow the Beeb's thread on other games. ;biggrin

Not one player stood out for me as a MOM rather a real squad showing ;ok

Surely there would have been little to lose?
We could just enjoy it, the win.
Who knows what Slav will do with a few more wins under our belt and a stable league position.
I like how they're managing Carroll, hes showing everyone what he's about and if we keep him fit we have a real threat
What is worrying is the lack of a replacement as we really lost something when he was off the pitch
But have to be delighted up to 9th, in gold form Snodgrass looked very lively and good to see Kouyate back even if he was out of position
Arguably if the team weren't struggling he wouldn't get a look in anyway?
