When I wrote that 30 seconds ago I had made no, ermm, Bazfers... Now I've typed this you've made me make 2 Bazfers just to restore world order and hope the Fantasy Gods weren't taking notice of your frivolous endeavors ;whistle ;wahoo
And after I had decided yesterday to not make any this week. What is going on???
No, not Antonio. Sigurdsson.
Sadly, I was too late to avoid his price drop, but I have avoided the (imminent, I think) price rise in the replacement. (Which is what prompted me to act now.)
My only worry is, there's potential for rotation. ;puzzled ;pray
It wont be long before I use my wildcard. The whole team needs a revamp, I think. And the drip by drip approach isn't really paying dividends. I can't seem to make up ground on the leaders. ;angry
I guess it depends (re. the wildcard) who you're thinking of bringing in (in terms of numbers) as its not a bad squad at the moment. Decent forward line and decent defence. IMO though your midfield, outside of Alli, is a bit weak/likely to be inconsistent. Plus you've only got a squad value of 99M so one of D, M, F lines has to accommodate that I guess. Making up ground on leaders means you have to do well in the double game weeks + not have the more popular players (as in if those popular ones do well and you have them, then most people will score well). Teams like Palace and Man Utd may have double GWs coming up but they dont have particularly easy matches so thats a hazard too.
Guessing, like me, you went in for Sane? (if Coutinho wasnt being a sicknote again I'd have kept him) Thats with the 'squad rotation' comment in mind plus he's a similar value to Sig. If that's not right...Eriksen
I dont mean any offence by the Midfield comment. I just think that Zaha, Lanzini and Sane if you picked him dont score enough. Also, it says Antonio has a sickness (probably not match fit either) hence my initial guess.
My Midfield is now Hazard, Sane, Sanchez, Alli & King ( I replaced Firmino and Coutinho who arent exactly slouches ) if you wanted to pick holes in it ;wink I think its a very strong MF for goals and assists but I do have 8M more than you to spend which makes a big difference and probably one of the reasons I've come from about 40th in the league into the top half after having so many injuries
I had a lot of money tied up in expensive (and largely underperforming) strikers ... and midfielders like Hazard (when he went ages without getting many points). They then declined in value so that meant I sold them at a loss. So I was trying to look for good value/form players at lower prices. I didn't do too well at that, tbh. And I made lots of bad decisions for Captain.
re Antonio, I'm gambling on it just being a sickness bug (it's not an injury, obviously) and that he'll be fit for Swansea. Lanzini does OK at home, usually, which is why I'm hanging on to him for another week. Same with Lukaku - his points usually come in the home matches so I chose to keep him rather than Costa. I'll probably hang on to him for the next couple of weeks, then have a bit of a shake-up for the DGW. As you say, Palace have tricky fixtures then, and Man U have a terrible schedule coming up (so probably lots of rotation?).
Man utds defence is a little bare after Jones and Smalling were injured and it seems Valencias the only worthwhile punt in it. Even he wasnt in the squad last game. They also dont score many from MF and basically rely on Ibra
Palace have a lot of hard games so I wouldnt touch their defence either (Dann and Tomkins injured recently too ) and there are better forward options than benteke. Zahas ok because hes cheap so you cant expect him to score like player such as Alli. Thats why I like King too but he actually does score regularly (especially when hes on my bench!).
I totally prefer Lukaku over Costa. I still think hes due for a red card ;lol Vardys obviously in great form but Leicester have 5 away games out of 6 coming up. Ibra is expensive but maybe worth it in the next few weeks (unless hes saved for Europe in a couple of weeks ;doh )
money no object I'd have Aguero, Ibra & Lukaku. In a more real world... Ibra Lukaku and a cheapy like Deeney or AC
Kane suddenly back in the equation (not this week but maybe next if he looks sharp). Although if I put him in and he has a relapse before they play us I wouldnt be heartbroken and just make another Bazfer out ;thumbsup ;wink
My two transfers out last week were Firmino and Coutinho. Both on the bench so I actually thought I had a result. So of course they both come on and both score! However, our win today means for this week that actual football was more important than the fantasy variety. Now who to get rid of and bring in this week ;hmm ;wahoo
Well that surprised me. Before I opened the thread I at least expected to see the name 'Valencia'. But you exercised some restraint when nobody would blame you...
Maybe that wildcards moving a little closer with 2 premium defenders causing issues. ;hmm One rotated ( rose and walker were rotated back end of last season too ) and the other seems to be lost in the Bermuda triangle! No injury update and not even on the bench again. To be fair though, Trippier always seems to do well when he plays. Hes pretty unlucky to have Walker in front of him and if I was him I'd find another club as he'd walk in to most sides.
Along with the two defender comments youve also got Love who doesnt play and Antonios injury to contend with. Some of us who will not be named, would not have such patience. ;whistle
Yes, Love was just the cheapest defender I could find to fill the 5th spot (I never expected him to play - my strategy is to have 3 good regular defenders and pretty much leave them to it. Sadly, that - like so much else - hasn't quite worked out for me this season).
And Lanzini, I've been wanting to ditch him for a while (meanwhile his price continues to fall).
I'm not sure how I ended up with such a mediocre bunch. ;lol ;doh
