Valencia hasn't stated since they lost to Leicester in the 3rd Round and in half the games since then he's not got off the bench.
No one is going to pay £14m for a sub. If we have stuck a £14m price on his loan deal it shows just how out of touch with reality our owners are. We'd be lucky to get half that, maybe £5-6m
We paid £12m for him, he's not managed to hold a starting place here or Everton,, I'll be generous and say we might get £8m but we certainly aren't going to sell him with a £14m price tag.
My point was that he's been unavailable for a lot of the season (as you said in your later post, brookings), so to say he is 'sat on the bench most weeks' is an alternative fact. ;biggrin
herb: 7 starts, another 9 coming on as a sub.
Not a lot of difference but, yes, starts on the bench more often than not. ;ok
Have they stocked the shelves in that aisle again? ;wink
Twist
If anyone renews a season ticket based on a suggestion that we might sign a player (any player) then I think that counts as thicker than a concrete milkshake.
If we really have to sign an older striker then it has to be Defoe. Sunderland are unlikely to stay up & it's a perfect fit. He knows where the net is & would do a good job for a couple of seasons. For me it's a no brainer.

4 league goals in 7 league starts. He'll be a 10-15 goal a season player with a full campaign under his belt.
I think with Ayew, Antonio & Lanzini (and Snodgrass & Feghouli waiting in the wings) we have the the '3' in our 4-2-3-1 pretty much sorted.

But I don't think anyone does.
Our experience last summer would suggest that it really, really isn't that simple.
;cool
Maybe with an one exception ;biggrin I would like to sign Kompany...
In fact maybe my rule just applies Rooney...
