So a better centre back, such as one similar to Disasi, to partner Mavropanos & hopefully bring the best out of him like in the second half of last season?
Why bother try and talk if you aren't going to listen?
WHU, IF you see my reply @ 12.06 I indicated I had read alderz replies and didn't agree with him so much for being allowed to have a different opinion or is this a closed forum?
On a positive note, it's an improvement to have Morato playing instead of the liability Scarles....Not that I'm over convinced with Morato, but stronger than Scarles.
However IMO KWP has been suspect, defending wise, going forward he's much better....
Our 2 CB's have both been capable of having mares IMO, but as Mavro is banging in some goals, that gives him some slack....
Both CB's are average at defending IMO and both will always be prone to making mistakes.
Kilman is too lightweight IMO, especially for his stature...The only reason he's looked better this season is the quality of player he's up against...
If @alderz think's he's been our best, it's probably because the bar is pretty low, IMO.
While at present we sit 2nd, if I'm being totally honest, I think we're far off the finished article and if there are funds in Jan, I'd be tempted to get in one or 2 extras.....
There are of course some positives, ( Soucek will be a bonus for sure ) & Mukasa a stand out, but I believe our position at the top (2) is far from guaranteed, we are too soft centered for this league at times....All IMO of course....
Also, I still think NES. can't make his mind up who's our best forward pairing are, he also needs to get his act into gear IMO.
I do recognise that both Mavro and Kilman have been poor this season in defence and that is really my main issue, they don't work together. Nuno should have known that from last season, but perhaps thought the drop in level would see them manage.
In Mavro's defence I agree with Munich that Disasi turned Mavro into HOTY but I don't feel anyone could do that for Kilman, whilst Mavro's spirit is much needed in this division, he is a fighter, then add his goal contribution and there is only one candidate to be replaced if finding they are not sufficient together.
Kilman for me is too slow to react and lacks ability to deal with stuff in the air, he lacks that centre back dominance that all clubs need.
Here is a short clip of their goals yesterday.
For the first he just seems to jump a half hearted jump turning his back on the ball, something a pub player would have got an earful for. The second he fails to even watch the ball as too concerned with holding his man and so it goes right over his head into the path of the scorer. I'd like to have seen a dominance that meant in both of those he was attacking with a 'that's mine' attitude.
All opinions however, and as I put in my earlier match post I certainly saw the argument people make for Pablo yesterday, he made a real difference.
I thought Mukasa struggled today - was still one of our few brighter sparks - but was lightweight & dominated in midfield, turned his back a few times when marking & I think Engels suffered because of this too
He’s only a young lad so not that surprising
I really think we're lacking some muscle in the middle and this is also putting too much pressure on our somewhat cumbersome CB'S and full backs.....
Wile Mukasa has certainly been a stand out, Engels so far blows hot and cold, but of course it's early day's for them both...
Soucek could certainly be more than useful and IMO Alvarez even more so, even though he can be reckless at times, quite a few of the current lot fall into that category....But perhaps the rift, and NES' personality won't see him back soon, yeh, we hear that Alvarez said this and that, but I personally get the impression that NES isn't also the easiest of characters to get on with, all just IMO and no evidence to back that up, just impressions from how he's treated others.....
WHU, IF you see my reply @ 12.06 I indicated I had read alderz replies and didn't agree with him so much for being allowed to have a different opinion or is this a closed forum?
You didnt agree with him, you discounted his comment to continue this obsession with transfers
We know your opinion as its all you really talk about, but its got nothing to do with the questions (and answers) you asked to Alderz
So alderz you are saying we need two new centre backs in the January window?
No
Sorry @alderz said he didn't believe we need another CB in this coming January....I'm not in agreement re that .....
Do you really believe these 2 are good enough, I'm personally not sure TBH, they both are okay, but that's about it, IMO we need an improvement than those 2.....
Kilman is defending better than Mavropanos, & distributing the ball better. Mavropanos is chipping in with some vital goals. Together, they are bringing value but it’s not much defensive value because of how Mavropanos is defending. Add that to a lack of DM, it’s not making us very secure because we are so open & not dealing physically with long balls.
Yeh, like I said earlier, we need an Alvarez or even Soucek to help them out to secure the midfield, Engels and Mukasa are not strong enough and don't offer them enough protection, but in all honesty, they're both ( Kilman/Mavro ) probably just not good enough, they're middle of the road players and we need better IMO.......That's if we want to go straight back up...IMO
WHU, Maybe there will come a time where my “obsession” with addressing the key areas in the team that need sorting will be done. I do honestly believe that not all my comments are transfer based. Many believed in August we had strength in depth which IMO we don’t & so I feel entitled to keep raising my concerns 👍.

Raising your concerns is different to mentioning it within every thread
We aren't buying anyone until January now, and we're 2nd in the league so why talk about players who arent here like Disasi and Alvarez who didnt want to be here it makes no sense
Try and enjoy football, not sure I've ever seen a positive comment from you when we won but the minute we drop points you're back talking about what we did or didn’t do in the window, or who we did or didnt keep against their wishes
WHU, That's the point I don't but you can carry on believing I do that's fine by me because I am happy with my opinions. I think you will find I visit this site more than you so you possibly you haven't seen any of my positive comments .

Nobody said you can’t have an opinion. Nobody said you can’t disagree with someone else’s. You didn’t make it clear what your opinion is or was.

I didn’t say I don’t believe that. I posted that I felt Kilman was better this season than Mavropanos. Fortune asked if that meant I was saying we needed to sign two centre backs. I said no, because that’s very clearly not what I said.

Fair enough @alderz , so a question for you, if you don't mind asking, do you believe we need to buy/loan a CB in Jan ?

We aren’t going to get a better centre back similar to Disasi cos we’re not in the Premier League any more
AJ’s is a proper football pub close to where the Cubs play in Wriglyville and yes I have joined these guys on prior occasions but unfortunately not this time.
There is a long bar and various teams have a section where pictures and scarves etc are hung on the wall - our section is immediately on the left as you go in.
They do open early and provide a decent breakfast
