  • Didn't see the game but seemed like it was a case of their reserves were prem players looking for fitness, like Smith-Rowe, Muniz, Anderson etc. Whereas ours were youth players like Orford, Ajala, Herrick etc. Which is expected when you get championship vs premier league

Seemed like we looked good forward and poor defensively, as Alderz said in the championship our lack of a DM is mitigated as we have the superior players which we didnt last night

Couldn't care less about this game, so low key happy we lost
  • Wouldn’t say it was a lack of a DM, it was our defenders not taking control or doing their jobs. Mavropanos for the first, then the lot of them not sorting out who should be dealing with a simple ball over the top for the second. The third is probably on Kante dithering on the ball in a dangerous area.

It’s frustrating because I think we were very decent overall but basically handed them all their goals. But that’s how it goes and it wasn’t a crucial game for us.

I agree that there were a load of errors from the defenders (particularly Mavro), but I also think that a lot of these errors occurred last season because of waves and waves of pressure. Last night it felt like Fulham could waltz through the midfield whenever they felt like it, which continuously put the back line under pressure. And the more defending they do, the more opportunity they have to make mistakes.

I actually didn’t feel like they were all over us and that was why the goals looked so easy when they came. They just happened. But maybe that’s just how I saw it! And I do agree we generally need a strong DM.
  • Quite a few people have mentioned the need for a strong CDM so why isn't NES playing either of Alvarez or Magassa?

I do wonder what's happening with Alvarez, IMO he with Soucek could surely only be a bonus to the squad.....
I do hope NES can allow him ( Alvarez ) back in.....He must be good enough to make the squad, if not starting 11 IMO.

Everything I'm about to say is based on stuff I've read that has bene reported. Whether it's true or not we'll never know.

Magassa was injured for pre-season, then said he wanted to leave. When the transfer window closed he then apologised to the manager and the squad, and made the bench last night. He would have come on had we not conceded the thid, but clearly he's not match fit. I think it's also fair enough to assume he has't played recently because we've we found a winning formula on the day the window closed, and the manager has stuck with what worked.

Alvarez is in a similar situation. He was used in the opening game, because Nuno wants to use him. But then Alvarez said he wanted to leave and wouldn't play in the Championship. He didn't manage to agree a move anywhere, and yet he still is apparently refusing to play.

I personally would like to see more of Magassa, but Alvarez thinks he's better than the club, and I'd rather we didn't have him back unless there's a major change in his (reported) attitude.

I guess it depends if those rumours are true or just what they are, rumours, but IMO Alvarez if attitude is right, he can be a added bonus to the squad, but I'm happy to see Soucek back even more.... He offers that experience that might just be needed at times..
  • Soucek seems like not only a good footballer, but a man who wants to play for our club. When he laid down Ludo’s shirt yesterday, I couldn’t help but think he is true West Ham.

Got to love him for that.
  • Had a tear in my eye

Would have been home to Palace in round 4
  • 9 changes for Fulham so neither manager seems that bothered. COYI.

As I said, Fulham’s B team is doing better than their A team
