EFL Carabao Cup - West Ham v Fulham @ home, Tues 15th Sept @ 7.45pm (UK Time)

edited 2:15PM in Match Threads
After the record breaking great drubbing of Wrexham we next face Fulham at The London Stadium Tuesday evening in The EFL Cup.

Guess NES might make a change or 2, it would be nice to keep the starting 11, except for Veltman who I guess picked up some kinda injury ( any news anyone ? ) but would also understand a couple of changes for the cup game....

As much as I want us to win and go through, perhaps 3 points in the Championship are more important for me, but a win and getting through would also be very welcome.....

Fulham playing Liverpool as this will be posted, will be keen to see how they fare.... ( they've held their own for first 15 minutes ).....

Ref appointed -

Referee: Ward, Gavin
Assistant Referee: Ledger, Scott
Assistant Referee: Singh Gill, Bhupinder
Fourth Official: Reeves, Tom

This is what someone wrote on a ref forum about his previous performance in the earlier EFL Cup round between Cardiff & Swindon, it doesn't sound great, but of course, just it's just one person's view....

Gavin Ward is a referee i've seen many times down Cardiff and each time I have always been unimpressed with him and today was no different. I felt that his foul detection was very inconsistent and there were a few times where he didn't book a player when it looked pretty clear to everyone that they should have been booked. The big decision in the game was the penalty and having seen it back i'm not convinced it's a handball but it is difficult to tell either way. The second yellow for the Swindon player was pretty clear cut for a poor challenge."

Oh well, let's hope the MASSIVE Hammers/Irons continue their very fine form from Friday evening onto Tuesday evening.

I imagine this will be a rotated side after the busy week & with Millwall next.
  • What does anyone consider to be the most important game, v Fulham or v Millscum?
Personally the M....... game gives us the ultimate bragging rights over the team from Bermondsey. Lose and we never live it down.
    So COYI
  • Millwall game is more important to me our goal is to go up so 3 points is better then beating Fulham then find out we draw Man city away in the next round
  • We're in the championship, couldn't care less about the cup we arent going to win it

Rotate the team, get minutes in legs that need them and minutes off those that need to stay fresh
  • I think the Fulham match is about game time and experimenting if need be, it's the league matches that matter and every single win takes us closer to a quick return. We never had much chance in the Caraboo with a Premier league side so I can't imagine we will get far this time around.

This said I am enjoying the Championship, winning matches and scoring goals. Maybe we can win the league and say we will let the side under us go up instead. A part of me still feels we had a real chance and should have sent Spurs down last season, and that would have remained with me for a long time, but looking at our seasons so far I think we are far better off.
