I'm going to take over from MrsGrey and do a pop quiz.

    1. When did we last score six or more goals in a league game?
    2. Since 1970, how many times have we scored six or more goals in a league game? (For context, we did it six times in the 1960s and 10 times in the 1950s)

I was at Upton Park in 1968 when Geoff Hurst scored SIX against Sunderland in a 8-0 win.
  • I watched all 12 minutes of highlights of the game, brilliant performance.
Meanwhile SOS (Same Old Spuds) v Everton game has no highlights except for it being the first time Spuds haven't scored in their new stadium and still not scored this season.
  • Spurs lost 2-0 at home to Newcastle earlier this season.
  • It’s the first game in their new stadium where a goal hasn’t been scored.

Club football over country any day of the week for me 👊🏿

I agree, but also I get into watching and supporting England
Fool, I was lucky enough to see England West Ham win the world cup in 1966, but do not believe that it will be seen again for many many years
Fair enough. But suggesting it’s a fools pursuit to follow England without a World Cup win is the same as arguing there’s no point in supporting West Ham as we won’t win the premier league.

I have a far greater, more emotional, communal experience when I watch England than when I watch West Ham, and I think that’s a large part of why I watch and care about football.

Me too, in the North Bank behind the goal.
  • I still remember the Newcastle game and Alvins hat trick against three different keepers.
  • Didn't Beardsley also end up in goal......
  • Didn't Beardsley also end up in goal......

    He did
  • I was at the front of the South Bank for the Sunderland game and saw clearly as he punched in the first.

I think it was about 20p to stand in the North Bank.

I always remember my dad moaning that it cost half a crown for a seat
