  • I'm going to take over from MrsGrey and do a pop quiz.

    1. When did we last score six or more goals in a league game?
    2. Since 1970, how many times have we scored six or more goals in a league game? (For context, we did it six times in the 1960s and 10 times in the 1950s)
  • I am not surprised that the MOM award is so close, TBH I really struggled to choose, it could have been nearly all of the team, a nice start to the weekend for sure.....
  • Goal of the month is going to ba long list 🤣

Great comment on BBC have your say for the match in response to a Spurs fan:

“ Must be so depressing following Spurs...I mean..Max Kilman has scored more league goals this season than the whole of the Spurs team...just let that sink in 🤣”

I was thinking this last night, was it Brighton in the Champ in Big Sam’s season?

It sure was - 14 and a half years ago

Funnily enough, the time before that was 14 years before (Barnsley in 19998). So if that continues, remember the answers from this pop quiz in 2040 when it comes back up.
  • Surely the quiz question should be, when did we last win 6-0 with 6 different goal scorers.
  • Surely the quiz question should be, when did we last win 6-0 with 6 different goal scorers.

That can be a question, but my spreadsheet only includes the goalscorers back to 1970, and it hasn't happened any other time back to then.

If someone else wants to find the goalscorers for these games, they are absolutely welcome to! (westhamstats.info will have the results, but I'm not going to look them up right now.)

    23/09/1899 Royal Engineers
    31/12/1910 Southend United
    31/01/1920 Bury
    15/02/1923 Leicester City
    13/02/1926 Bolton Wanderers
    23/09/1933 Preston North End
    01/02/1936 Bury
    05/01/1946 Arsenal
    20/12/1958 Portsmouth
    05/11/1960 Arsenal
    26/09/1962 Plymouth Argyle
    16/12/1963 Workington Town
  • According to westhamstats none of those matches had 6 different scorers.

That was the first time this season where we had a complete performance. We stayed on the front foot (now Nuno has options on the bench & not just the first 11) & some of our football was excellent. Counter-attacking where suitable, but also on the front foot & controlling the game. We didn’t look open or ragged or disjointed & the only chance we gave up came from Mavropanos giving the ball away. Our corners were far better than they have been this season.

Taty, Bowen & Piroe should all be hitting 20 goals this season.

First time ever is pretty cool
  • 3 week international break coming up? What?!

The way this is going, Mavro could, too 😅

The September and October breaks have been merged into one longer break.
  • Does the international break affect the Championship as West Ham's next fixture according to the BBC is away to Millscum next Saturday, which should be very fiery.

We have the Millwall game and then the international break is after that. If I recall correctly, it doesn’t affect league one and down.

I assume that, for us, Mavropanos and Solomon will definitely be away, possibly Hermansen and Piroe and then some of the younger players like Mukasa, Austbo, etc.
  • Yep league 1 and 2 still play
4 games for England this break
    Then 2 more in Nov

  • Will possibly break up the momentum we have built.

    Where’s that disagree button
  • Club football over country any day of the week for me 👊🏿

That's always my gripe, just as we're getting into a good run the games just drop off and then we have to start all over again

I agree, but also I get into watching and supporting England

Obscure and pedantic, I know, but Workington Town are a Rugby League team. I also support Workington Reds AFC. They are the football team.
  • That is obscure knowledge and I appreciate it. Westhamstats.info need to check their facts! Unless the thrashing is explained by the rugby team turning up by mistake.

Fool, I was lucky enough to see England West Ham win the world cup in 1966, but do not believe that it will be seen again for many many years
