    I just think the dynamic has changed & what we now need is not a Pablo but a link player between attack & midfield, because of the change in our style & the fact we will dominate the ball more. I do like Pablo. I just think the 4-4-1-1 with a playmaker behind a striker will link that front four together & also connect us to the back 6.

    This is the side we need Saturday, IMO, happy to go with Golambeckis if Mav is still out, but he may play Scarles & have Veltman at CB.

    Think Orford has played himself into the team, at the moment hes the most comfortable dictating the play from a deeper position

    Agree with the consensus and said on the Charlton thread, we need a #10 to knit to together and Mukasa was encouraging in that role, Engels can likely do that as well or Taty

    Thought in the Charlton game that Piroe and Taty were the wrong way around, Taty stayed up top and Piroe dropped deep. Feel they were suited to each other's roles.

    Really liking the look of Piroe, he will score goals at this level and Vletman oozes class and composure we have desperately lacked

    Orford was excellent and bossed the midfield. Interesting that last September he joined Stevenage on a season-long loan but was recalled because he couldn't get a game. Maybe their manager couldn't see the potential or maybe it was to do with their playing style. Obviously, Nuno saw something in the player.

    Stevenage had a couple of central midfielders coming into their prime years - Harvey White was 23, Dan Kemp was 26 and Daniel Phillips was 24. They also had a 16yo (Ryan Doherty) who got a handful of opportunities too.

    I feel like it was just a really poor loan selection by us, where he was thrust into a situation where they'd rather play the guys contracted to them, and give their own youth player an opportunity off the bench.

    George Earthy had a similar thing - he played pretty well for Bristol City in his first loan there, but was playing out of position a lot (apparently he played right wing back a fair bit), then went back into a squad with loads of competition and couldn't get a game.

    We have a habit of just shoving young players out on loan into situations that don't actually help their development at all. Hopefully the new structure will change that.

    When we send players out on loan I would imagine the loanee club and the loanee were in agreement.
    I doubt we just sent him to Stevenage with his boots and a note around his neck

    Well, obviously.

    But it's also obvious that the Stevenage loan didn't even come close to working out. Nor did the Earthy to Bristol City. Or Kaelan Casey to Swansea. Or Michael Forbes to to Bristol Rovers or to Colchester. Or Junior Robinson to Sutton United or Livingston.

    We're not making good choices for young players when they go out. They need to go and play, not sit on the bench somewhere. Going to a side that has loads of competition in their position doesn't help them, or us.

    Aside from Freddie Potts and Mason Terry, we've not been able to successfully loan out young players in the last few years. Considering this is a youth team that won the youth cup and regularly finishes near the top of their leagues, we should have had more success, IMO.

    I guess it boils down to which clubs contact us about possible loans as it’s out of our hands. We can’t stipulate that they must play so have to trust that they will get game time. If they don’t go out on loan then they’ll more than likely not get game time with us.
