Areola to get a game, as I would expect JWP as well....
A big loss could really throw a spanner in the works, but I'll hope we have enough to get the win...

    I’d go as strong as we can as we need this side to find form & click going into Watford

    If that's the case, it's a big wake up call, if it wasn't already, that we need a new CB in for sure....

    The game is live on satellite TV here, so if it isn't live in The UK, might be good chances for people to get a stream.....

    Good point Whitehorsehammer but why are we thinking about selling (insert anyone of several names)? NES is moving towards a time when he needs to tell a few of our better players that they aren't getting the moves they want so have to shut up and play.

    But to sell him would build pressure to find a replacement in the few days before the transfer window closes.

    I expect Nuno to make changes, that way if we do lose he can point to it being a rotation exercise. If he goes strong & we lose, the pressure builds. He probably thinks the Watford game is the one to win.

    I'd personally hope he would think both are games we should win, but I do get your point....

    Southampton are a team that like to have the ball and attack, which normally suits us. The issue we will have this year is when we’re expected to have most of the ball as we don’t know what to do.

    It can't be easy being a Saints fan. At the beginning of November they'd won just two games, they were 20th and Will Still was sacked

    They promoted U21 coach Tonda Eckert, won 6 of the next 7, were up to 8th mid-December, dropped back to 16th a month later before going on a 19 game unbeaten run and finishing 4th.

    And then Spygate happened.

    This season they have started with a 4 point deduction and are still waiting for the FA to decide whether Tonda Eckert should get a ban. They beat League Two Colchester in the Carabao, lost away to Watford and beat Stoke at home

    Against Stoke there were three changes

    Irish AM Finn Azaz made his first start after recovering from injury, he was one of three players to score 11 goals last season but the other two have left. Adam Armstrong joined Hull in January while Scottish CF Ross Stewart joined Swansea on a free after a dispute over his contract renewal

    Canadian CF Cyle Larin also got his first start, he joined on a loan from RCD Mallorca in January, scored 9 in 22, signed a permanent deal in June (£3.4 m) and has scored in all three matches so far

    Larin replaced CF Ben Brereton Díaz in the starting XI, he's only played 17 times for Saints since joining two years ago and spent last season on loan at Derby, He was left out of the squad and has been linked with Derby, Birmingham and Sheffield United

    CB Taylor Harwood-Bellis was also left out of the squad, Villa have had two bids rejected but it looks like a matter of when rather than if

    They signed CF/AM/LW Lewis Dobbin (£9m Aston Villa), he spent last season on loan at Preston, scored 11 in 41 including two against Southampton and ex-Hammer CF Divin Mubama on loan from Man City; he came on as a sub against Stoke and scored

    They're strong down the left. Brazilian winger Leo Scienza was 3rd for assists and was the most fouled player in the Championship while LB Ryan Manning is a good crosser.

    Flynn Downes hasn't changed, he collected 16 yellow cards last season,

    CM Casper Jander, 4th in the Championship for tackles last season, has been out with injury but is expected back soon

    Another player who hasn't been seen at all is Aaron Ramsdale, he spent last season on loan at Newcastle and is currently playing with the U21s. Saints current no 1 is Daniel Peretz, on loan from Bayern Munich last season, signed for £6m.

    Eckert said he will be making changes in his presser

    Herrick is a very talented keeper - my mate watched him a lot & says he is well regarded by the club & has huge potential & even predicted he’d be our number 1 at some point this season over Hermansen (he also thinks Areola will go & no other keeper will come in)

    I have liked what I’ve seen of Mayers - so Golambeckis & Ajala will be good to watch & see how they do
